Bangladesh’s long wait for a Test century in Australia finally ended on August 14, 2026, as opener Tanzid Hasan Tamim reached three figures in the first Test at Marrara Stadium in Darwin.

Tanzid scored 100 off 188 balls, becoming the first Bangladeshi batter to hit a Test century on Australian soil. The milestone had remained out of reach throughout Bangladesh’s previous tours of Australia since 2003.

Remarkably, the century came in just his second Test match, after making his debut against Pakistan on May 16, 2026.

Tanzid’s historic knock also surpassed Hannan Sarkar’s previous best of 76, scored in Cairns in 2003, ending a wait of more than two decades for Bangladesh and setting a new batting benchmark in Australia.
