First Death Anniversary of Syed Manzur Elahi Observed
The first death anniversary of Syed Manzur Elahi, a distinguished industrialist and business leader in Bangladesh, was observed on March 12.
Syed Manzur Elahi passed away on March 12 last year at Gleneagles Hospital at the age of 83. He was widely recognised for his significant contributions to Bangladesh’s industrial development and financial sector.
He led Apex Footwear Limited and played a key role in developing the company into a major footwear brand and exporter within the country’s leather industry.
Syed Manzur Elahi was also involved in establishing financial institutions including Mutual Trust Bank and Pioneer Insurance Company Limited, contributing to the growth of Bangladesh’s financial landscape.
He served as an adviser to the caretaker government of Bangladesh in 1996 and 2001, overseeing several ministries including communications, shipping, civil aviation and tourism, posts and telecommunications, and housing and public works.
Throughout his career, he remained associated with several educational and social institutions such as East West University, Sunbeams School, Manusher Jonno Foundation, Freedom Foundation and the Diabetic Association of Bangladesh.
Syed Manzur Elahi is remembered for his lasting contributions to business leadership, education, and social development in Bangladesh.
