Venezuela’s $4 Billion Gold Nears Transfer to U.S.

Venezuela and opposition representatives are nearing a deal to transfer around 31 tonnes of Venezuelan gold, worth roughly $4 billion, from the Bank of England to U.S. custody.

The proposed arrangement would place access to the reserves under U.S. oversight, while Venezuela’s interim government would gain legal control but face restrictions on selling the gold.
