Plastic Monster, also described in news coverage as the “Robot Monster.”

Location: Sugandha Point, Cox’s Bazar Sea Beach, Bangladesh.

Date/event: It was inaugurated on 4 December 2024 as an environmental-awareness installation.

Organizers: Cox’s Bazar District Administration and Bidyanondo Foundation, with artists and students associated with the Fine Arts Department of the University of Dhaka.

Material: More than 10 metric tonnes of discarded plastic, collected from Cox’s Bazar and nearby coastal areas including Ukhia, Inani and Teknaf.

Purpose: To raise public awareness about plastic pollution, marine pollution and its effects on biodiversity and human life.
