📰 Report:
The road connecting Lalua and Bagali villages under Koyra Upazila in Khulna district has turned into a nightmare for the local residents. Years of neglect, lack of maintenance, and seasonal damage have left the road in a dangerously broken condition — riddled with potholes, mud, and erosion.
Thousands of people rely on this road daily — school children, farmers, emergency patients, and workers. During the rainy season, the road becomes nearly impassable, especially for rickshaws, vans, and even motorbikes. In some places, the road is submerged in knee-deep water or completely broken off, posing serious risks of accidents.
Speaking to this correspondent, several villagers expressed their deep frustration.
"We’ve submitted complaints multiple times, but no one is listening," said one frustrated farmer.
Another elderly resident said, "We pay taxes and vote every election, but can’t even walk to the market safely. How long will this suffering continue?"
Local business owners also report losses due to transport delays and difficulty reaching markets. Many patients face severe difficulties reaching health centers, especially at night or during emergencies.
Despite repeated appeals to local representatives and the Union Parishad, no significant action has been taken. Social organizations and concerned citizens are now urging the Upazila administration and LGED to take urgent steps to repair this vital road.
