Another group is conspiring to disrupt the election: Tarique Rahman
BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman has alleged that a group is involved in a planned conspiracy to disrupt the upcoming elections. He urged voters to be vigilant, saying that their responsibility does not end with just voting; they must remain at the polling station after casting their votes and ensure the correct counting of their votes.
Tarique Rahman made these remarks while addressing an election rally held virtually in Hatia, Noakhali on Monday afternoon. The rally was organized in support of BNP MP candidate Mahbuber Rahman Shamim from Noakhali-6 (Hatia) constituency.
Tarique Rahman said that for the last 15 to 16 years, the people of the country did not get the opportunity to exercise their voting rights in the real sense. During that time, the right to vote, freedom of speech and democratic rights of the common people were taken away. He commented that those who were involved in these activities have fled the country today. However, he alleged that now another group is conspiring again to disrupt the elections. He urged voters to be extremely aware of this issue.
Regarding the things to do on the voting day, the BNP chairman said that on the 12th, those Muslim brothers who are present should perform Tahajjud prayers and go to their respective polling stations and perform Fajr congregation in front of the polling station. He urged them to stand in line in front of the polling station from the morning along with their brothers and sisters of other religions so that everyone can exercise their right to vote properly.
He also said, "It is not enough to just vote and leave. After voting, you have to stay at the polling station and carefully understand the account of each vote you cast. Ensuring the security of the vote is the biggest responsibility now," he commented.
During the rally, a local person highlighted the long-standing problems of the people of Hatia. He said that the main problem of the region is river erosion. Many people are disappearing every day. He demanded the construction of block dams and embankments to prevent river erosion, as well as the rehabilitation of the landless in the newly created chars.
In response, Tarique Rahman said that the problems that the Hatiya people have raised at different times have been written down. Showing a paper, he said that there are demands written there such as building block dams to prevent river erosion, building embankments, khas land settlement for the landless, and upgrading the Upazila Health Complex to 150 beds. He assured that these problems will be resolved step by step if the BNP forms the government.
However, emphasizing on making BNP victorious to solve these problems, Tarique Rahman said, "Previously, the people of this area have seen many public representatives, but they could not effectively solve the problems. This time, if BNP is elected, these works will be implemented gradually. Therefore, he also mentioned that it is the responsibility of the voters to make the rice ears victorious."
Urging people to vote for BNP candidate Mahabuber Rahman Shamim, he said, "There are various problems in the clean water, education, medical and agricultural sectors in Hatia. An honest and competent representative is needed to solve these problems. If Shamim is elected and BNP forms the government, the overall development of the area and solutions to the problems of the people will be ensured."
Highlighting BNP's future plans, Tarique Rahman said that if BNP forms the government, monthly assistance will be provided by introducing 'Family Card' for women, so that educated women can gradually become self-reliant. By introducing 'Agricultural Card' for farmers, full assistance for at least one season will be ensured. Vocational training institutions will be established for the youth to create training, microcredit and employment opportunities. He also said that initiatives will be taken to expand hospitals and recruit health care workers to deliver healthcare services to their homes.
