What is E-Commerce business?
In simple terms, a business conducted through electronic media or services is called an e-commerce business.
Generally, any product bought or sold online is called an e-commerce business.
The first and foremost advantage of e-commerce is that it is possible to buy and sell any product at home in just a few minutes.
Some examples are: online shopping, online banking, online ticket booking, airhost, etc.
Some of the popular e-commerce establishments in Bangladesh are Daraj, BD Shop, Foodpanda, Evely, Sahaj etc.
There are mainly 6 types of e-commerce:
1. Business to Business (B to B): This is limited to business traders. 80% of e-commerce is business-to-business. It is much like a wholesale market. Eg: eBay, Amazon Business, etc.
2. Business to Consumer (B to C): This business is conducted primarily between the business organization and the customer. The second most electronic commerce of this type is done by Daraz, Evaly, etc.
3. Business to Government (B to G): It is mainly carried out between business organizations and the government sector. It is generally used for government procurement, licensing activities, tax payment, etc.
4. Customer to Customer (C to C): This e-commerce is conducted between multiple individuals and customers. This business is usually conducted through e-commerce and online auctions such as: sale.com.
5. Mobile commerce (m-commerce): Mobile commerce is conducted through wireless technology such as mobile handsets or personal digital assistants. With the speed and ease of exchanging information through wireless devices, this type of business has gained popularity.
6. Customer-to-Government (C-to-C): Sometimes the government collects fees or taxes from the public in exchange for various services, when there is no middleman, it is considered a customer-to-government process. Such services like online admission to government schools, online land registration, etc.
