🚨 Official Statement from Marc-André ter Stegen:
The past few months have been especially challenging for me, both physically and personally. Like any player dealing with injury, my only focus has been on recovering and returning to the pitch as soon as possible — driven by the passion to compete and support the team.
Recently, various things have been said about me — some of which are entirely unfounded. I believe it’s important to share my perspective, clearly and respectfully.
The decision to undergo surgery was made after thorough consultation with medical professionals and was fully approved by the Club. It was taken with the sole intention of safeguarding my health and long-term career — which aligns completely with the Club’s goal of having me back on the field to help win more trophies. I also publicly communicated the minimum recovery time, as advised by leading experts and in coordination with the Club.
I want to clarify — in response to some speculation — that all of the Club’s transfers and contract renewals were finalized before my surgery. At no point did I believe that my situation would in any way be used to enable the registration of other teammates, whom I respect deeply and look forward to playing alongside. Any suggestion otherwise is both unfair and inaccurate.
Throughout my career, I’ve always strived to act with professionalism, integrity, and dedication to the clubs I represent. My bond with FC Barcelona, the city, and its fans is strong and sincere. My commitment to these colors is unwavering.
I understand that difficult moments can create tension, but I firmly believe that, through open dialogue and mutual respect, we can move forward positively. I remain fully open to cooperating with the Club to resolve any outstanding matters, including providing any necessary authorization.
