তুমি বলেছিলে রাতে তোমার ঘুম হয় না,
আমি বুঝেছিলাম সময় চাইছো;

তুমি বলেছিলে "আকাশে কী মেঘ করেছে দেখো?",
আমি বুঝেছিলাম তোমার মন খারাপ।

তুমি বলেছিলে "চুলে জট বেধেছে";
আমি বুঝেছিলাম তুমি স্পর্শ চাইছো।

তুমি বলেছিলে আজ বিকেলে তুমি বারান্দায় থাকবে;
আমি বুঝেছিলাম সাক্ষাত চাও।

তুমি বলেছিলে,অন্ধকারে আমার বড্ড ভয়;
আমি বুঝেছিলাম তোমার আমাকে জড়িয়ে ধরতে ইচ্ছে করছে;

তুমি বলেছিলে সমুদ্রে যাবে;
আমি বুঝেছিলাম পাশাপাশি হাত ধরে হাঁটতে চাইছো।

তুমি বলেছিলে নীল প্রিয় রঙ,
আমি বুঝেছিলাম তোমার কষ্ট হচ্ছে;

তুমি বলেছিলে ঠোঁট ফেটেছে,
আমি বুঝেছিলাম চুমু খেতে চাইছো;

তুমি বলেছিলে অংক ভালো লাগেনা,
আমি বুঝেছিলাম তুমি কবিতা ভালোবাসো;

তুমি বলেছিলে " আজ তাড়াতাড়ি ঘরে ফিরতে হবে",
তুমি বলেছিলে,এই হুটহাট দেখা করা,অসময়ে ফোন করা আর তোমার ভালোলাগছেনা;
আমি বুঝে গিয়েছিলাম,বিচ্ছেদ চাইছো।

তারপর অলিখিত সাক্ষরে তুমি যখন ইনভিজিবল কোর্টে আমার বিরুদ্ধে বিচ্ছেদের মামলা ঠুকে দিলে;
আমি বুঝেছিলাম তুমি মুক্তি চাও।

এরপর সব বুঝে যখন আমি দার্শনিক,
সব মিটিয়ে তুমি যখন অন্য ঘরের শো-পিস,
একদিন আমাদের দেখা হলো তখন;

তুমি জিজ্ঞেস করেছিলে,"কেমন আছো?"
আমি বুঝে গিয়েছিলাম তুমি ভালো নেই।
