Fasting is one of the five pillars of Islam. Fasting throughout the month of Ramadan is a commandment and obligatory worship of Allah Almighty. Fasting is obligatory on adult healthy men and women. Fasting has many benefits. What is the hadith about the benefits of fasting?
Allah Almighty orders the Muslim Ummah to fast and says, 'O believers! Fasting is enjoined upon you, as it was enjoined upon those before you. So that you may attain piety and abstinence.' (Surah Baqarah: Verse 183)
In another verse, Allah says, 'Ramadan is the month in which the Qur'an was revealed. In which there is guidance for people. This guidance is a clear discriminator of truth and falsehood. So those who meet this month should fast.' (Surah Baqarah: verse 184)
Fasting in the month of Ramadan is the order of Allah. It will be a sin to break the fast without special disability or incapacity. It has been mentioned in the hadith-
A person who breaks even one fast of Ramadan without any special reason, even if he fasts for the rest of his life, the right of that fast of Ramadan will not be fulfilled. He will appear before Allah in such a way that Allah will forgive or punish him.' (Tabarani)
Another hadith states, 'Whoever breaks his fast on one day of Ramadan without any reason, his qaza will not be performed for the whole year, even if he fasts the whole year.'' Ahmad)
Benefits of fasting
Fasting in Ramadan has many benefits. The guidance of the hadith is that, 'Keep fasting, stay healthy.'
A fasting person must abstain from eating, drinking and sexual in*******se during the day. For those who follow this order of Allah, there is a special reward and announcement of recompense -
1. Rasulullah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said, 'There is a rule for the reward of all the good deeds of the servant. Rewards are given according to good deeds. It ranges from ten times to seven hundred times. But the matter of fasting is above the general rule. Servant has given up food and drink for me, has abstained from sexual activity. So I myself will give him a special reward and reward.' (Muslim)
Nabiji sallallahu alayhi wa sallam gave the good news that if you fast, all the sins of your previous life will be forgiven. The accident happened-
2. Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said, "Whoever fasts Ramadan with full faith and belief in the hope of Allah's pleasure and reward, Allah will forgive all his previous sins." (Bukhari)
In the hadith, fasting is described as a fortress to escape from the fire of hell. It has been mentioned in the hadith-
3. Nabiji sallallahu alaihi wa sallam said, "Fasting is a strong shield and a fortified special fortress to escape from the fire of hell." (Tirmidhi)
This fast will be an intercessor for the faster on the Day of Resurrection. Fasting will say, O Allah! For me, this banda did not fulfill the biological needs of eating and drinking. So forgive this servant O Lord! Then Allah Ta'ala will accept the intercession of the fasting person.
Fasting is one of the trainings for humans to abstain from animal nature. Because the characteristic of animals is that they eat when they want, drink when they want or engage in sexual activity. And the angels are completely free from these. They have no need or need for food and no need for sexual activity. And by fasting in Ramadan, people develop self-control and moderation in themselves by turning away from animal nature and following the nature of angels.
The greatest benefit of fasting is to acquire taqwa, the fear of Allah the Exalted. Build your own character. To be able to control one's self in obeying Allah's orders. Not only that, people are trained to eat less, sleep less and talk less by fasting. And in that the human soul improves a lot and the beauty increases.
Nabiji sallallahu alaihi wa sallam also advised to be careful while fasting. By identifying himself as a fasting person without responding to someone else's bad words, he advised to refrain from evil deeds as follows-
"When one of you fasts, he should not utter any obscenity during the day, nor shout. If someone intentionally quarrels with him or abuses him; Then he should remain silent only saying, 'I am fasting', I am fasting.' (Bukhari)
Because if you do not avoid bad words and lies by fasting, then this fasting will not benefit people in any way. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:
"Whoever fasts and does not forsake falsehood, evil speech and evil deeds, his fasting does not benefit Allah." (Bukhari)
In another hadith,
There are many fasting people who do not gain anything from their fasting except suffering from hunger and thirst because they do not abstain from evil deeds.' (Musnad Ahmad)
Since fasting is Allah's command and obligatory worship. So it is obligatory for every adult and capable Muslim man and woman to observe it. And when people follow the rules of fasting and abstain from all sins, big and small, then all the benefits of fasting will be available.
It will be possible to obtain the full benefits of fasting only if one refrains from eating, drinking, lying, blasphemy, abuse, obscene words and actions including sexual in*******se with one's wife. Allah's command will be implemented. Humans will be able to acquire the characteristics of angels.
especially
Sehri and Iftar is an important part of fasting. If we observe it as a Sunnah, it is not only good for the body but also causes great welfare and benefits. So it is Sunnah to eat Sehri on time, so it is Sunnah to break Iftar on time. Nabiji sallallahu alaihi wa sallam used to do so.
The Prophet, may God's prayers and peace be upon him, said, "Eat Sehri; Because it has blessings. And to break the fast with dates is the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).
According to modern science, dates contain vitamin A, B, C and D as well as calcium, phosphorus and many other useful minerals that not only strengthen the heart, brain, liver, stomach and nerves, but also provide a lot of energy to the body.
Again, people feel thirsty during summer fasting, then according to the research of ancient doctors, if one drinks two spoons of pure honey mixed with water immediately after waking up during Sehri, he will remain calm throughout the day. Thirst for water will be less. Because of the beneficial foods and medicinal multivitamin minerals like honey, it restores physical strength during fasting.
May Allah Ta'ala grant the Muslim Ummah the Tawfiq to attain the benefits of fasting and taqwa by observing the rules of fasting properly.
Amen.
