They said the salmon in our river were extinct. For 20 years, no one had seen a single one. But I refused to believe it.

This is the story of my 3-year, 5-month mission to bring them back. It wasn't easy. I faced droughts, cement-paved riverbeds, and countless setbacks. But the sight of that first wild salmon nest gave me hope, and the sight of villagers finally catching them again made it all worth it.
