Tragic Death of Two Students at CUET; We Deeply Mourn to Their early Passing
Two students of Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) have tragically died after drowning in ponds adjacent to two residential halls of the university. The incident occurred on Wednesday (August 12), casting a deep shadow of grief across the university community.
The deceased students have been identified as Arnab Dutta, a student of the Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) Department from the 2024–25 academic session (24 Series), and Shanto Deb, a student of the Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) Department from the same academic session.
According to relevant sources, they drowned in ponds adjacent to Kazi Nazrul Islam Hall and Shah Hall of the university. Their tragic deaths have left their classmates, teachers, and fellow students deeply saddened.
It is worth mentioning that on July 28, Arnab Saha, a student of the 2021 batch of the Mechanical Engineering Department at CUET, also died in a drowning incident. The occurrence of multiple similar accidents within a short period has caused profound concern and grief across the CUET community.
