Truly honoured to be invited by H.E. Ms. Abida Islam, Bangladesh High Commissioner to the UK, for a special meeting with Nobel Laureate Professor Dr Muhammad Yunus.

Our discussion focused on hospitality, tourism, and women’s empowerment—areas I’ve been deeply committed to through the Tommy Miah Hospitality Management Institute (TMHMI).

I shared how TMHMI has trained and graduated over 30,000 students, many of whom are now working across the globe in the hospitality industry. During the COVID-19 pandemic, TMHMI also helped many women launch home-based food delivery businesses, creating pathways to sustainable income and independence.

It was also a pleasure to reconnect with Ms. Lamiya Morshed, Principal Coordinator (SDG Affairs) and Senior Secretary, who, like Professor Yunus, has previously visited our Heritage Restaurant in Gulshan.

I look forward to continuing these meaningful conversations when I’m in Dhaka this July, and working together to help promote a positive image of Bangladesh globally.
