মানবজীবনের সাথে সমুদ্রের নিবিড় এক সম্পর্ক বিরাজমান। পৃথিবীতে প্রাপ্ত পানির প্রায় ৯৬.৫% পাওয়া যায় সাগর এবং মহাসাগরে। যদিও লবনাক্ত হওয়ার কারণে সমুদ্রের পানি পানযোগ্য নয় তবুও পানি চক্র, খনিজ লবণের চাহিদাপুরণ, জীববৈচিত্র্য রক্ষায় সমুদ্রের জলের রয়েছে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ অবদান। তবুও মানবসৃষ্ট কর্মকাণ্ডের কারণে প্রতিনিয়ত সমুদ্রের ক্ষতিসাধন হচ্ছে যার মধ্যে অন্যতম হলো: প্লাস্টিক, কলকারখানার বর্জ্য, তেল দূষণ ইত্যাদি। তাই সমুদ্র বাঁচলে মানুষ বাঁচবে। মানুষ ও প্রকৃতি রক্ষায় এনভায়রনমেন্ট থিয়েটার।
