Take a look back at the 79th edition of the Cannes Film Festival 2026 ...
The opening of the 2026 Cannes Film Festival brought glamour back to « the Croisette » with a more elegant and classic red-carpet atmosphere this year. The festival opened with Pierre Salvadori’s film « La Vénus électrique », while filmmakers, actors, and fashion icons gathered for the famous “montée des marches.”
Among the standout appearances:
Demi Moore: Wore a custom beaded Jacquemus strapless gown paired with a massive 226.34-carat five-row diamond bib necklace and cluster earrings from Chopard's Haute Joaillerie collection.
Jane Fonda: Attended in a custom black sequined Gucci gown styled with the highly recognizable Iconica aquamarine and diamond pendant necklace by Pomellato.
Ruth Negga: Charmed in Dior Haute Couture paired with 41.12-carat emerald-cut emerald earrings and rings from Chopard.
Hamnet’s director and Cannes jury member, Chloé Zhao chose a minimalist and refined look. She wore Gabriela Hearst for the opening ceremony.
The 2026 jury was chaired by acclaimed South Korean director Park Chan-wook and included an international mix of cinema figures such as Demi Moore, Ruth Negga, Stellan Skarsgård, and Laura Wandel.
Overall, the opening night blended cinema prestige, luxury fashion, and classic Cannes glamour in front of the iconic Palais des Festivals.
