🇧🇪 🇯🇵 Their Majesties the Emperor and Empress of Japan to visit Belgium from 23 to 24 June

🎉 It is the first visit to Belgium by a reigning Japanese emperor since 1993 and coincides with the 160th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

📜 Those relations started in 1866, when Belgian diplomat Auguste t'Kint de Roodenbeke negotiated and concluded the Treaty of Amity, Commerce and Navigation with Japan.

🤝 Since then, relations have strengthened in many fields, with notably close ties between the Belgian Royal family and the Japanese Imperial family!
