🇨🇴 Colombian President: I support the establishment of the State of Kurdistan, just as I support the State of Palestine

Colombian President Gustavo Petro, during a meeting with the Colombian diaspora in Brussels, openly expressed his support for the establishment of the State of Kurdistan, in response to a question from Kurdistan24’s correspondent Barzan Hassan.
For the first time, through Kurdistan24, President Petro clearly voiced his backing for the Kurdish people’s aspiration for statehood, saying:
“Both Palestinians and Kurds have long struggled for self-determination and for building their own states. They have fought side by side in the Middle East. As a president, I support both nations in their pursuit of independence.”
The Colombian leader added:
“I have personally witnessed the Kurdish struggle against the black flag of extremism. The Kurds defended democracy and freed parts of the Middle East from tyranny. Unfortunately, many countries in the region and the wider world have not given the Kurds the support they deserve.”
President Petro further emphasized:
“The State of Palestine and the State of Kurdistan must both be brought to the negotiating table, so that these nations can achieve peace and sovereignty.”
At the end of the interview, President Petro asked Kurdistan24’s correspondent Barzan Hassan to convey his greetings and message of friendship to the Kurdish people.
Last month, during the UN General Assembly in New York, Gustavo Petro delivered a strong speech supporting the recognition of the State of Palestine, calling on world nations to jointly form an international force to help liberate Palestine.
