Small actions cause ripples in eternity

Sometimes, the simplest explanation is the correct one. No need to complicate things with every possible outcomes.

On Marriage.

The world has misunderstood marriage because it has greatly and yet sadly, misunderstood love. Love is not merely an emotion, for emotions waver and falter. It is not merely romance, for romance alone is but the fragrance of the flower and not its root. True love is a reflection of the eternal, and marriage is the earthly sacrament of that divine reality.

God, in His wisdom, made man and woman not as two separate destinies but as one great mystery. In Genesis, we do not read that God created two individuals and left them to their own pursuits. No, He fashioned them to complement each other—bone of bone, flesh of flesh, soul of soul. The two were to become one, not in fleeting passion, but in a unity so profound that it mirrors the very love of Christ for His Church.

This is why the world struggles with marriage: it has made it into a contract rather than a covenant. Contracts are broken when conditions change, but a covenant is sealed in blood. Christ did not love His Church when it was convenient; He loved it unto death, even death on a Cross. And so, every true marriage is cruciform—it stretches wide in sacrifice, it reaches high in divine grace, and it descends deep into the soul’s surrender.

The modern world asks, "What can I get from marriage?" But the Christian asks, "What can I give?" A husband is not just a provider, but a protector of his wife’s soul. A wife is not just a companion, but a sanctifier of her husband’s heart. Together, they embark on a pilgrimage toward heaven, carrying one another, forgiving one another, and perfecting each other in love.

There will be trials! For love is tested in the furnace, not on the honeymoon. There will be moments of silence when words fail, moments of sorrow when wounds cut deep, and moments of temptation when the easier path beckons. But it is in these moments that marriage finds its truest power—not in avoiding the Cross, but in embracing it together.

The secret of a happy marriage is not found in wealth, beauty, or status, but in the presence of Christ. When two souls kneel together in prayer, when they lift their eyes beyond this world’s passing pleasures, when they place their love within the heart of the Divine, then their love becomes unshakable.

For in the end, marriage is not about this world alone—it is a rehearsal for eternity. The love that endures here will be perfected in heaven. And on that final day, when the Bridegroom returns, may every husband and wife look upon each other and say, "We have loved as He has loved, and now we enter into joy that will never end."
