Great night yesterday at the 'soft launch' of Blue Monkey Brewery 's long awaited Taproom.

I had planned on getting lots of pictures and maybe a video or two but that all quickly fell by the wayside after the beer started flowing. You'll have to make do with just this bad selfie from us, Langar Cider and The Crumby Beard.

Really good to catch up with so many folks who are passionate about Nottingham's Beer (and cider) scene and thanks again to Blue Monkey for the invite.

We'll be down there again soon, no doubt.

The Taproom is now officially open so do go and check it out.

Chimpagne - 13% Champagne Yeast Strong Pale Ale. This might be my biggest “good surprise” beer of last year. I’m not mad on Champagne yeast beers, but this being double fermented, only the second go on the fizzy stuff, makes for a beautiful, rich and super-boozy special edition brew. Happy Sunday. My afternoon will be spent admiring the mountains bathing in the sun with this monstrous 16.58% Anniversary Beer from - first impressions are a huge cacao nib blast with some beautiful balancing nutty notes and a smooth barrel finish. It has no right being this drinkable, but it simply is. Fantastic stuff. Cheers!

This is definitely and in-the-mood bottle as there’s a mild funk that’s not common among the rest of the Old Pulteney range, but when the time is right, it is very special indeed.
