He has been decorated with the Param Vishisht Seva Medal, Ati Vishisht Seva Medal and three GOC-in-C Commendation Cards.
As the Northern Army commander, Lt Gen Upendra Dwivedi offered strategic guidance and operational oversight for planning and executing sustained operations along the northern and western borders. He also orchestrated dynamic counter-terrorism operations in Jammu and Kashmir, officials told news agency PTI.
They said during this period, Upendra Dwivedi was actively engaged in the ongoing negotiations with China to resolve the vexed border issue.
He was also involved in modernising and equipping the largest Indian Army command, where he steered the induction of indigenous equipment as part of Atmanirbhar Bharat (self-reliant India).
During his long and distinguished service spanning nearly 40 years, he has served in a variety of command, staff, instructional and foreign appointments. The command appointments of Dwivedi include command of regiment (18 Jammu and Kashmir Rifles), Brigade (26 Sector Assam Rifles), Inspector General, Assam Rifles (East) and 9 Corps.

मासूम बच्चा अपने मां बाप के साथ वैष्णो देवी माता के दर्शन के लिए गया था लेकिन पाकिस्तान समर्थित इस्लामिक आतंकवादियों ने हत्या कर दिया।।

आज वो लोग कहा है जो दूसरे देश पर हमला होने पर गढ़ियाली आसू बहाते हैं, बाहर के आतंकवाद को तो भारतीय सेना खत्म कर ही देगी, पर अंदर जो वहा का चोला पहन के बैठे हैं उनका क्या??

करगिल कि स्वर्णिम विजय कि जो आज हम रजत जयंती माना रहे हैं l मुझे गर्व महसूस हो रहा है कि मेरी यूनिट 18 Grenadiers ने इस युद्ध कि जीत कि शुरुआत और टाइगर हिल कि जीत के बाद समापन कर दिया था l मैं गौरवांवित होता हूँ अपने Commanding ऑफिसर पर!!
