Today's featured CMS mosaic is by UK Based artist Cleo Mussi. These wall-mounted mosaic panels feature images inspired by kokeshi dolls and Japanese street fashion, contrasting traditional Japan with modern Japanese culture. Mussi says about her work: "Both my textiles and my mosaic-making share the same emphasis on pattern-making and building up patterns from simple blocks, as well as re-cycling materials, and the understanding of materials is crucial to both media." Matteo Randi was born in Ravenna, Italy, and began his formal training in mosaic art art at the age of 11. Mr. Randi studied at Instituto d'Arte "Gino Severini," and at the National School for the Conservation of Mosaics in Ravenna. His work can be seen both publicly and privately around the world. He is the Educational Director of The Chicago Mosaic School and has lived and worked in Chicago since 2011.
