🐾 BONBONS GANG UPDATE — DEVASTATING NEWS ABOUT RICHIE, BUT MILLIE IS OUT OF THE CLINIC 💔

Yesterday, I finally got the green light to pick up Millie and Richie from the veterinary clinic.

However, when I arrived, Richie wasn't looking quite like himself. After speaking with the vet, we decided it was safer to keep him at the clinic a little longer.

Sadly, this morning Richie crossed the rainbow bridge. 💔

We don't know exactly what happened, but after everything his tiny body had been through, it seems that his heart simply wasn't strong enough.

I am heartbroken. He was such a tiny little boy who had already been through so much.

❤️ But there is some good news — Millie is now recovering outside the clinic.

She is doing well and has reached the stage where she can continue her recovery away from the 24-hour care of the vet.

For now, she is on her own in a safe temporary recovery space. It is not ideal for such a tiny puppy to be alone, but we have no choice because it's parvo. It is only temporary anyway.

Hopefully, Zoe will be able to join her soon.

Zoe is still the big unknown.

She was the last of the three puppies to become sick and is still being closely monitored by the vet. After what happened to Richie, we are being extremely careful and waiting for updates before making any decisions about bringing her out of the clinic.

🐾 WHAT HAPPENS NEXT FOR MILLIE?
Millie still has a long way to go, even though she is now out of the clinic.

The current plan is:
Next Monday: deworming treatment.
In around two weeks: her first vaccination, assuming she continues to recover well.

She will need continued medication, soft food, careful monitoring and, eventually, a forever home.

Because the puppies would need to recover in a garage without access to a proper garden, I decided to buy them harnesses and leads so I could take them outside for short walks. I wanted them to have at least a little bit of normal puppy life while they were recovering.

💔 Sadly, we could not save little Richie.

But Millie is fighting, and we are still hoping desperately for Zoe.

❤️ ELLIE — THE TINY PUPPY WHO FOUGHT BACK

Just over a week ago, Ellie was weak, anaemic, infected and not getting enough food.

Today? Look at her. 🥹🐾

She is eating, playing, jumping, cuddling and even playing hide-and-seek with a giant greyhound! 😂

Ellie may also be the only one of her siblings to escape parvo after we found her separated from the family and managed to vaccinate her.

Now this tiny fighter is looking for her forever home. 🏡❤️

Local adoption is possible now. If everything goes according to plan, she can travel abroad after 30 October. 🌍🐾

🐾🚨 URGENT UPDATE FOR EVERYONE FOLLOWING LIZZY'S FAMILY — PARVO IS NOW SUSPECTED 🚨🐾

Those of you who have been following Lizzy and her puppies know that little Ellie was the first one to become unwell. I brought her home, and thankfully she is now doing relatively well.

Then yesterday, her sister Millie suddenly became very sick.

Millie was admitted to the vet, severely dehydrated, weak and refusing food.

This morning, I received a worrying update.

The vet now suspects parvovirus.

Millie is feeling a little better today, but she is still not eating.

And unfortunately, the situation may now be developing with the rest of the litter.

Last night, the family temporarily sheltering Lizzy and her puppies reported that Richie — the only surviving boy — is also unwell. He was still drinking today, which gives me some hope, but there is now a real possibility that little Zoe could become sick as well.

If Richie and Zoe remain in better condition than Millie, they may only need medication and regular veterinary care rather than a 24-hour stay at the clinic.

And somehow, in the middle of all this, Ellie is currently the only puppy doing relatively well.

She is also the only one who managed to receive her vaccination — because she had been left behind, and I found her before the others became sick. ❤️

But I need to be honest with you.

The costs are now growing quickly.

Millie has spent two days at the vet, which currently costs around €40, and I still don't know whether she will need to stay longer.

Richie and Zoe may also need medication, veterinary visits and potentially further treatment.

At the moment, the two puppies remaining with their mum have no medical treatment yet, simply because I do not currently have enough funds to cover treatment for all of them.

I know many of you follow this page because you care about what is happening to the dogs and puppies in our village.

And right now, Lizzy's babies really need our help.

🐾 LIZZY'S PUPPIES UPDATE — AND WHY I REALLY NEED HELP 🐾

I thought that after taking little Ellie home so she could have the space and care she needed to recover, everything would go back to normal with Lizzy and the rest of her little family.

Unfortunately, that hasn't been the case.

This morning, I had to take one of Ellie's sisters, Millie, to the vet.

Instead of planning her vaccination schedule, I suddenly found myself starting tests because something was clearly wrong.

On Sunday, Millie was happily jumping around. Yesterday evening, she became apathetic, sad and tired. She wasn't interested in food and only drank a little water.

Today's tests didn't give an obvious answer.

Millie was severely dehydrated, her weight had dropped significantly in just a few days, and because she is so tiny, blood had to be taken from her neck.

Millie is now staying at the vet overnight.

Tomorrow morning, I should hopefully know more. It could be an infection, the same virus that affected poor Bobby two weeks ago, or something much more serious, such as parvovirus.

Her blood results were still within the normal range, but close to the lower limit, so I don't want to take any unnecessary risks.

❤️ This is the part of rescue people often don't see.

Rescue isn't just about taking vulnerable animals away from the road. It's everything that comes afterwards: food, vet visits, tests, medication, vaccinations, parasite treatments and emergencies you never planned for.

And as the number of animals grows, the costs grow with them.

Some of you have already kindly supported Lizzy and her family, and I am incredibly grateful. ❤️ But today made it very clear that I simply cannot manage everything alone.

Since I first found Lizzy and her puppies, I have already spent €211 on food and veterinary care. So far, I have received €160 in donations.

Depending on Millie's diagnosis, each additional day at the vet could cost around €20 — and I still don't know whether either of the remaining two puppies could become sick as well.

And Lizzy's family is not the only one I am supporting.

🐾 My four little goblins are still with me until they find their forever homes.

🐾 Sally has four tiny babies.

🐾 Betty has three little teddy bears, with Molly acting as their ever-present auntie. ❤️

The authorities are aware of the situation with the stray mums and puppies in my village, but so far there has been no real solution. Only one of the three mothers has been spayed, there is no local shelter, other shelters are not taking dogs from here, and local NGOs are already full.

I am not an organisation. Most of the day-to-day rescue work falls on me alone.

And without help, I simply won't be able to continue doing it alone.

PUPPY UPDATE: One good test, one tiny patient… and the usual stray dog chaos. ❤️

Today we went to see our vet in Popovo.

🇬🇧 RENE'S BIG UPDATE

Rene had her BC test done before her journey to her new home in the UK.

And the result is...

NEGATIVE! 🎉

So nothing can stop this little girl now. ❤️

Rene was a little worried during the journey there, but the trip back was perfect. We will keep practising short car journeys so she feels more confident and comfortable when her big departure day finally comes.

We are now just sorting out the final details of her trip. 🇬🇧

❤️ LITTLE ELLIE

Ellie came with us too.

The vet ran tests and, thankfully, in general everything looks okay.

She does have a small infection and anemia, and it seems she simply wasn't getting enough food.

It is difficult to know exactly what happened — whether her mum rejected her, whether she was unable to compete with her siblings, or if something else was going on.

But now she is on medication, she is eating well and, most importantly, she is still wagging that tiny little tail. ❤️

Ellie weighs just 1 kg and is around 2 months old.

We have decided that she will stay with our gang until she is stronger.

In the meantime, we will also start looking for a loving home for her.

She has already briefly met the rest of the gang, enjoyed some little sessions in the garden... and apparently, I now have another shadow following me around the house. 😅❤️

As the weather is changing, I also went to check on Sally and her babies.

Her current shelter is far from perfect, but I added a few boards and I hope they will at least give her and the babies a little more protection from the rain.

Also... Sally simply loves wet food. 😂 OMG!

And of course, the girls had run out of water.

So they got a fresh supply and a nice dinner. ❤️

A worrying update about little Ellie.💔

Today, I was alerted that Ellie wasn't feeling well.

I went to see her, and she is visibly smaller than her siblings. Since we left her with her mum, she seems to have become weaker rather than stronger.

We are worried that Ellie may not be getting enough milk or food and could possibly be being rejected by her mum.

The lovely family who agreed to temporarily keep Lizzy and the puppies made sure Ellie had some food and water, but tomorrow she will be going back to the vet.

To me, she is simply too small and too weak.

The vet previously said that Ellie was healthy, so unless something unexpected has developed, her current condition may be explained by not getting enough food.

I am now seriously considering bringing Ellie back to our home and keeping her with us until she is stronger. Otherwise, I am worried she may not survive. 💔

There is also one piece of good news: Lizzy has recently been spayed, so she will not have to go through another litter.

But for now, we still need to take care of her babies — and that means food, veterinary costs and starting to think about a Plan B for their future homes when the time comes.

A little update on Molly, Betty and the puppies. ❤️

Yesterday, I went to check Molly's weight too. With all that fur, it is quite difficult to guess how much she weighs! Betty, on the other hand, is much easier — she is definitely the bigger girl. 😅

It also looks like the property where they are currently staying is being cleaned up outside, so we are not sure how long the girls and puppies will be able to remain there.

But living in the cellar is not a good long-term solution anyway.

Betty's puppies have grown and are now walking around, which means they can easily start wandering further from their hiding place.

The next thing we need to think about is vaccinations for the puppies, as well as spaying Betty.

We are also considering getting a double dog house, as Molly and Betty are always together and rarely go anywhere without each other. ❤️

Molly is officially registered as a stray dog and was spayed by the municipality some time ago. However, because there is no shelter in our area, she was simply returned to the streets.
