AAfrican women and youth are the strength and hope of our continent. The call from the First Lady, Angeline Ndayishimiye, reminds us that peace, security, and development cannot be achieved without the active participation of women and young people.
Women and youth must believe in their ability to create change. They should transform their mindset, develop innovative ideas, build projects that improve their lives and communities, and learn to work together with unity and determination.

Africa’s future depends on citizens who choose cooperation over division, action over waiting, and solutions over problems. Every young person and every woman has a role to play in building a peaceful, united, and prosperous Africa.
Let us stand together, support one another, and use our talents, creativity, and courage to create a better future for our continent. The change we want to see in Africa begins with us.

Acting Together to Honor Nelson Mandela’s Legacy in Burundi
AFFVBG-Burundi proudly joined the global celebration of International Nelson Mandela Day, honoring the life and legacy of one of the world’s greatest champions of peace, justice, and humanity.

On July 25, Burundi came together to celebrate the values of Nelson Mandela, affectionately known as “Madiba.” This day was more than a commemoration—it was a powerful demonstration of unity, compassion, and community action.

Together with residents of the Mukaza and Ntahangwa communes, local authorities, the Ambassador of South Africa, members of the diplomatic community, and United Nations agencies, we transformed Mandela’s message of service into meaningful action.

Through collective efforts, we contributed to building a better community by focusing on two key areas:

🌿 Environmental protection: Cleaning the shores of Lake Tanganyika to promote a cleaner and healthier environment.

📚 Education support: Renovating Maramvya II Fundamental School and providing school desks to help create a better learning environment for students.
Nelson Mandela’s legacy teaches us that every person has the power to make a difference. Every act of kindness, every moment of service, and every contribution toward a better society keeps alive his vision of peace, equality, and solidarity.
Let us continue to work together, serve our communities, and inspire positive change.

Together, we can build a brighter future.

We firmly believe that girls’ education is a key driver in preventing gender-based violence, breaking the cycle of poverty, and promoting sustainable and inclusive development.
Through our work in Burundi, we are committed to:
Raising community awareness on gender-based violence;
Supporting survivors and strengthening protection mechanisms;

Promoting girls’ education and school retention;

Advocating for policies and initiatives that advance gender equality.

Together with national and international partners, we can build a society where no girl is left behind and every woman is empowered to reach her full potential.

The future of Burundi depends on the empowerment of its girls and women.

When a girl is educated, a community is transformed. When women are empowered, nations become stronger. Investing in girls’ education is not only a right it is the foundation of peace, progress, and sustainable development in Burundi and across Africa.
