Subject: Request for forgiveness and assistance for Beninese victims of home destruction in Makoko, Bariga, Sogunro, and Agbodjedo, Nigeria
His Excellency the President of Nigeria,
Abuja, Nigeria
Your Excellency, Mr. President,
We are writing to offer our sincerest apologies for the acts of home destruction suffered by our Beninese compatriots living in Makoko, Bariga, Sogunro, and Agbodjedo, Nigeria. We are deeply saddened by the devastating consequences of these acts, which have left entire families homeless and exposed to the elements, depriving them of their dignity and their fundamental right to decent housing.
Children, in particular, are the most affected. Many are forced to live on the streets, exposed to the sun and rain, without access to education or healthcare. We have reports that children are dying every day, and others are falling ill due to the unsanitary living conditions. These images are unbearable and compel us to act to demand justice and assistance for our fellow citizens.
Your Excellency, Mr. President, we ask your forgiveness for these acts that have caused so much suffering to our compatriots. We implore you to intervene to:
- Protect the rights of Beninese citizens living in Makoko, Bariga, Sogunro, and Agbodjedo
- Provide emergency humanitarian assistance to affected families, including decent housing and healthcare
- Guarantee the safety and dignity of Beninese citizens living in Nigeria
We are convinced that your intervention can make a significant difference in the lives of these vulnerable people and allow us to rebuild our communities.
Thank you in advance for your attention and assistance.
