"Território Quilombola e Luta Política e Social" Inicia Atividades no Quilombo de Cabeceiras, Minas Novas.

Nos dias 26 e 27 de abril de 2025, a comunidade quilombola de Cabeceiras, em Minas Novas, sediou a abertura do Curso de Formação Inicial e Continuada (FIC) "Território Quilombola e Luta Política e Social", promovido pelo Instituto Federal do Norte de Minas Gerais (IFNMG) por meio do Campus Quilombo Minas Novas.

A iniciativa visa fortalecer a trajetória de comunidades quilombolas, indígenas e de povos de terreiro do Vale do Jequitinhonha, respeitando e valorizando os saberes tradicionais dessas populações.
O curso itinerante oferece formação alinhada às realidades e necessidades das comunidades tradicionais. Sua proposta pedagógica é construída coletivamente, envolvendo lideranças, mestres e mestras quilombolas e de outros povos e comunidades tradicionais e educadores comprometidos com uma educação antirracista e intercultural. A metodologia adotada é a da Pedagogia da Alternância, que alterna períodos de formação na escola com períodos de vivência na comunidade, permitindo que os estudantes articulem os conhecimentos adquiridos a suas experiências comunitárias, integrando teoria e prática.

Com carga horária total de 270 horas, o curso aborda temas cruciais para a compreensão e fortalecimento das comunidades quilombolas e indígenas, como conflitos agrários e socioambientais, impactos da mineração, valorização da arte e do artesanato, práticas culturais afroindígenas, história indígena e educação escolar quilombola no Vale do Jequitinhonha.

A realização do curso conta com o apoio de diversas organizações e movimentos sociais, como a Comissão das Comunidades Quilombolas do Vale do Jequitinhonha (COQUIVALE), a Federação das Comunidades Quilombolas do Estado de Minas Gerais (N'Golo), Comissão Pastoral da Terra (CPT), Movimento Indígena, Sindicatos dos Trabalhadores Rurais (STRs), Federação dos Trabalhadores na Agricultura do Estado de Minas Gerais (FETAEMG), Centro de Agricultura Alternativa Vicente Nica (CAV), Câmara dos Vereadores e Prefeitura Municipal de Minas Novas. Essas parcerias são fundamentais para garantir que a formação oferecida esteja em sintonia com as demandas e expectativas das comunidades atendidas.

Após a etapa inicial em Cabeceiras do Ribeirão da Folha, os próximos módulos do curso ocorrerão em outras comunidades quilombolas, aldeias indígenas e terreiros da região, promovendo o acesso a uma educação antirracista e contribuindo para o fortalecimento das identidades culturais, das lutas por direitos e dos modos de vida tradicionais. A iniciativa representa um passo importante na luta por uma educação inclusiva e socialmente referenciada, que reconhece e valoriza a diversidade étnico-racial do Brasil e a promoção de ações voltadas para a superação do racismo e de todas as formas de discriminação.

Statute of Racial Equality
A Historic Achievement for General Mines

Last night, January 10, 2024 the Plenary to the Minas Gerais Legislative Assembly took a historic step by passing the Statute of Racial Equality in the first place. This bill, which is based on PL 817/23, carries the voices of thousands of Black people, Quilombola, indigenous and other traditional peoples and communities who actively participated in its construction.

This preliminary approval is not just a legislative milestone; it is a reflection of an intense and democratic mobilization that has traversed the State through the seven regional meetings of the Statute of Racial Equality Legislative Seminar. These meetings, held in Belo Horizonte and six other cities in the interior, brought together leaders, representatives and advocates of racial and ethnic causes, bringing the realities, challenges and needs of our communities.

As a black woman, kilombola, and participant in some of these discussions, I can affirm that this Statute symbolizes our resistance and our fight for dignity. It is a victory built by many hands and that, more than ever, represents the strength of the collective. That is why we, at JornalCast Speaks Quilombo, continue to celebrate and amplify these achievements.

Seven Meetings, Thousand Voices

The regional meetings were spaces for exchange and collective building, where every idea, proposal and shared experience added forces to the elaboration of this Statute. The participation of Black, Quilombola, Indigenous representatives, and other leadership was essential to ensure that the final text represented the reality of all peoples living the impact of racism and inequality.

From these discussions a robust report was born, with 120 pages that incorporated 145 proposals into the text of the Statute. Each proposal is a proof of how powerful the voice of our communities has and needs to be heard.

I remember with emotion the moments when I heard our quilombola representatives talking about the challenges they face in their territories. Every speech reaffirmed the importance of protecting our land, our culture, and our history. This fight is ours, and this victory is the result of tireless work.

What does the Statute Stand for?

The Statute on Racial Equality brings about a number of significant advancements. He not only recognizes the rights of Black and traditional peoples, but also forces the State and society to ensure those rights are respected.

Among the main points of the Statute are:

- The creation of the State System for the Promotion of Racial Equality (Sisepir), to coordinate public policies and affirmative actions.

- Protecting the Kilombola territories and strengthening the Kilombola schools.

- The inclusion of measures that expand employment and income opportunities for the black population.

- Promoting equality and tackling structural, institutional and religious racism.

The Statute is more than a law; it is a commitment to dignity and justice for all people who have, for centuries, been marginalized.

As a quilombola woman and a participant in this construction, it is impossible not to feel the emotion of seeing our struggles being recognized. That's why, for JornalCast Speaks Quilombo, we continue to bring you the stories and challenges of those who, like us, fight every day to keep the flame of resistance alive.

Being in regional meetings was a great learning experience. I have seen with my own eyes the power of collectiveness. I saw how much our Black, Quilombola and Indigenous representatives brought strength and wisdom to this construction. Now, with the Statute moving into the second round, we are more confident that this fight will be crowned with the final approval.

Invitation to Luta

The Statute is a landmark, but our fight doesn't stop there. We need to stay vigilant, charging that it turns into concrete actions that make a difference in the lives of our people. The JornalCast Speaks Quilombo is here to echo those voices and show that every achievement is a step towards equality.
