Sherubtse Media Society, with the support of the Department of Media, Creative Industry and Intellectual Property, and in collaboration with BA Media Studies and FINA, proudly celebrated World Intellectual Property Day on April 26, 2025. This yearโs theme, โIP and Music: Feel the Beat of IP,โ inspired a vibrant series of events aimed at promoting awareness and appreciation for intellectual property rights.
The celebration featured three main programs: a video competition, an advocacy session, and an IP carnival. Throughout the day, the importance of protecting creativity and innovation through intellectual property rights was powerfully emphasized. Distinguished speakers shed light on how IP laws safeguard the hard work of artists, musicians, and filmmakers, enabling them to gain recognition and enjoy the financial rewards of their creations. Advocacy sessions tackled critical issues such as piracy and plagiarism, while informative talks guided participants on how creators can register and protect their work within Bhutan.
Adding to the festive spirit, the IP carnival buzzed with lively food stalls, interactive game booths, a vibrant musical program, and an open talent competition. Each activity was designed to not only entertain but also to educate the community about the vital role intellectual property plays in nurturing and sustaining the creative industries.
Through this engaging celebration, Sherubtse Media Society reaffirmed its commitment to fostering a culture that values and protects creativity, inspiring the next generation of innovators and artists.
