Bhutan’s abundant forest cover makes it a true haven for mushroom hunting. From hidden trails to highland woods, nature gifts us a rich variety of wild mushrooms, each one a little treasure waiting to be discovered.

Mushrooms truly are one of nature’s quiet gifts. They might look small and fragile, but their role in the ecosystem is powerful and irreplaceable.

Beyond their ecological role, mushrooms are also a gift for humans, providing food, medicine, and even spiritual inspiration across cultures.

Mushrooms remind us that even the smallest beings in nature carry the greatest responsibilities, quietly keeping the balance of life.

My greatest happy pill is none other than Mother Nature. Whenever I am surrounded by her wonders, I feel lost, not in confusion, but in awe.

The rustling leaves, the gentle breeze, the endless skies, and the silent wisdom of the mountains remind me that happiness is often found in the simplest, most beautiful gift we’ve been given.

Trekking isn’t just about reaching a destination, it’s about uncovering pieces of yourself along the way.

With every step through shifting landscapes, you leave behind familiar comfort and walk into the quiet space where your thoughts breathe.

The climb teaches patience, the descent teaches humility, and the long stretches in between teach you how to listen, to nature, to silence, and to the voice within.

By the time you return, the trail may be behind you, but the self you discover remains with you forever.
Wonderful days with wonderful people 🙏🙏🙏

Meeting Namgay: A Living Legacy of Service🇧🇹

During the vibrant celebration of Talo Tshechu, I had the rare honor of meeting Namgay, a man whose presence carries the weight of history and devotion. At around 80 years old, Namgay is more than just a witness to Bhutan’s past, he is a part of it. What moved me deeply was learning that he had served three generations of Bhutanese kings in the military, a lifetime of dedication etched into every line on his face.

Draped in a beautifully woven gho, he wore three distinguished medals and the King’s badge on his chest, symbols of honor, sacrifice, and unwavering loyalty to the Golden Throne. His medals aren’t just decorations; they are a reflection of decades of selfless service to the nation, and a deep love for his country and King.

The prayer beads in his hand spoke of spiritual strength, while his calm, steady presence revealed the quiet power of humility. Meeting Namgay wasn’t just an encounter, it felt like standing before a living piece of Bhutan’s history. His story is a reminder that true heroes don’t seek the spotlight; they simply serve with grace, integrity, and devotion.

🍄 Why Returning Mushroom Roots (Mycelium) to the Soil is the Right Thing to Do?

🌱Mycelium is Nature’s Hidden Web of Life
• What you see as a mushroom is just the fruit of a much larger underground organism: mycelium.
• This living network connects roots of trees, plants, and even other fungi, scientists call it the “Wood Wide Web.”

By putting the mushroom base or roots back into the soil, you are preserving this network and allowing it to thrive.

🌿 In Practice:

When you harvest:
• Cut or twist the mushroom gently, without ripping the whole root system out.
• Place the base, any trimmings, or even old mushrooms back into the forest floor, under leaves or moist soil.
• Do not leave plastic or non-biodegradable waste behind — nature gives freely, so let’s give back with care.
