PELSUNG (Guardians of Prosperity)

7 October 2025: As the third group of volunteers begin their work in Gelephu Mindfulness City (GMC) His Majesty The King announced the launch of Pelsung. Pelsung, meaning Guardians of Prosperity, is a new national initiative to engage Bhutanese youth in developing creative and practical solutions for the GMC. His Majesty announced Pelsung as the third pillar of nation-building alongside Desuung and Gyalsung, instituted to help build strong foundations for the country’s future.

The first cohort of Pelsung participants includes about 300 youth, selected from thousands of applicants from within and outside Bhutan. They represent a diverse mix of civil servants, private employees, students, and recent university graduates.

The programme includes a Youth Integration Training, developed with the support of Desuung, to build teamwork and community spirit. Participants will attend GMC Talks with experts from the Gelephu Mindfulness City Authority, and later form groups to develop ideas under four themes — Social and Cultural, Business and Commercial, Governance and Planning, and Architecture and Urban Design.

N𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗕𝗵𝘂𝘁𝗮𝗻

The Department of Tourism has been facilitating our tourists and partners with regard to heavy rain fall last night and this morning causing road blocks in some areas in Bhutan. We have advised them not to travel until further notice or travel only after checking the road conditions with local authorities.

Though the situation is improving, we advise avoiding movement at the moment until the situation becomes normal completely.

Glad they are safe 🙏

Tashi Dhendup (24) in white from Zhemgang and Phurpa Tshering (27) in green from Chukha being discharged from hospital. They jumped into Amochu (Toorsa) river after being trapped while looking after Rigsar vehicles also trapped in the swollen river. Phurpa came out first swimming to the Phuntsholing side while Tashi came out much later from the Samtse side. They are security guards working for Rigsar Construction.

A man was reportedly washed away by the Chhuchuna Stream in Kazhi Gewog, Wangdue Phodrang, while he was on his way home to Chhungsekha-Dhomkha Chiwog in Phangyul Gewog after receiving news of his father’s passing. He was a cook at a school in Kazhi Gewog.
