The latest issue of The Druk Journal is Out!

This article talks about how frequent mindfulness practice among postgraduate students at the Royal Institute of Management is linked to higher academic performance and stronger social-emotional learning skills, while occasional awareness alone shows little effect. The study connects these findings to Bhutan’s Gross National Happiness philosophy and the vision of Gelephu Mindfulness City, showing that integrating mindfulness into education and governance can foster ethical leadership, emotional resilience, and compassionate citizenship, and recommends structured mindfulness programs and SEL training within curricula.

Are you interested in writing for the Druk Journal?

This Spring 2026 article, The Druk Journal (Issue 23) takes an in-depth look at “Generations in Transition” to explore how Bhutan is navigating profound societal change. From the perspectives of individuals, families, communities, and the nation, the issue examines the multilayered impact of globalisation, demographic shifts, and evolving lifestyles. With nearly half the population under 25, an aging population, and outward migration posing challenges, understanding these transitions is crucial for shaping the country’s present and future.

We invite thoughtful, original articles that examine all aspects of these generational changes in Bhutan. Submissions can explore youth participation in society, intergenerational collaboration, mental health, care for the young and elderly, migration, family connections across borders, and balancing tradition with innovation.
