Even if all 7,218 students are absorbed by RUB, what real problem does that solve? We need to shift the narrative from education alone to building tangible, practical pathways where young people can earn a decent living. Not everyone can β€” or wants to β€” become an academic, civil servant, or researcher. Many lack the interest, aptitude, or aspiration for such careers.
In many countries, students branch out after Class 10 or 12 into TVET, automotive trades, hospitality, and other skilled professions, while only a small, dedicated group pursue university and public service. The key issue is not whether everyone goes to university, but whether the system is designed holistically to absorb youth at different levels β€” aligning opportunities with skills and interests.
Otherwise, we risk producing more graduates than the white-collar market can absorb, leaving many overqualified yet unwilling or unprepared to pursue alternative careers.
It is time we see youths make equal living through sports, private firms, construction sector, content creations etc. That is why, I support the governments ESP investment in content creations. It is like teaching the youths how to fish rather than giving a fish. Our policy makes need to realise this.

This year, about 32.3 percent of the Class 12 graduates of 2025 will get admission to colleges under

That is wonderful news Tashi Delek la.
However, the way BBS, our state media, framed the caption reflects a rather shallow and narrow perspective. It subtly portrays Bhutanese who leave the country as lacking commitment, as if seeking opportunities abroad is an act of disloyalty. Such framing oversimplifies a complex issue and unfairly reduces migration to a question of patriotism.
It overlooks the deeper structural reasons driving many Bhutanese to leave in increasing numbers β€” economic uncertainty, limited opportunities, systemic challenges, and growing dissatisfaction. More importantly, it sidesteps the critical question of whether there are clear strategies, policies, or even the political will to meaningfully address this ongoing exodus.
Instead of moralising the issue, BBS could play a more constructive role by encouraging comprehensive research, facilitating open dialogue, and critically examining policy gaps. State media should not merely frame narratives, but help the nation confront difficult truths with honesty and depth.

A strong research and development (R&D) sector is the lifeline of a vibrant and prosperous agricultural system. In earlier years, when agriculture β€” including livestock β€” contributed significantly to the nation’s economy and livelihoods, the R&D sector was robust, well-resourced, and led by skilled professionals who introduced new technologies and improved productivity.
Today, however, that strength appears to have weakened. What was once a solid pillar supporting farmers and national food security now seems to be fading under current circumstances. It is difficult not to feel concerned that, without urgent attention and renewed commitment, the very foundation of our agricultural future may continue to erode.
