𝐄𝐏𝐒 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐮𝐦 𝐂𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐀𝐫𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐬 𝐍𝐞𝐰 𝐋𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐫𝐞

The Economics and Political Science (EPS) Forum carried out a cleaning and arrangement initiative for the new Lecture Theatre, covering its classrooms and surrounding areas on August 17,2025. Students from EPS Year II and III, along with members of the new program Sections A and B, actively took part in the initiative.

The classrooms were not only cleaned but also arranged into an Agile classroom , with group-style seating designed to support collaboration and interactive learning in future sessions.

This initiative sought to maintain cleanliness, improve the learning environment, and instill a sense of responsibility among students, reflecting the forum’s commitment to both academic growth and community well-being.

𝐒𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐮𝐛𝐭𝐬𝐞 𝐇𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐬 𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐫𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐓𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭

Sherubtse College organized its first-ever traditional archery tournament on 16–17 August 2025 at the college archery range. Team 7 secured the championship title, while Team 2 and Team 5 finished second and third, respectively.

The tournament, conducted under the Yangphel system, featured eight teams formed through a lucky draw of A, B, and C category players. Winners received cash prizes of Nu. 5,000, Nu. 4,000, and Nu. 3,000, which were awarded by the Dean of Student Affairs.

The Sports Committee organized the event to preserve Bhutan’s cultural heritage, promote youth participation in archery, and select players for the upcoming Bhutan University Sports Federation matches.

In a gesture of appreciation and encouragement, the College President awarded certificates to outstanding individuals during the morning assembly, celebrating both leadership and athletic achievement within the Sherubtse community on 11 August 2025.

Mr. Sherub Loday, Resident Leader of DH3, and Mrs. Sonam Yangchen, Resident Leader of Norbuling Hostel, were honored as “Leaders of the Month” under an initiative reintroduced by FINA. The recognition aims to foster active leadership participation among students, while reinforcing the principle that true leadership is rooted in service—not in the pursuit of rewards. The It emphasized that while recognition is important, it should follow genuine efforts made for the well-being of others.

In addition to the leadership awards, the College President also presented certificates to the Sherubtse Women’s Basketball Team for their remarkable victory at the basketball tournament held at Samdrupjongkhar. The team expressed heartfelt gratitude to the college management for their unwavering support and affirmed their commitment to continued growth and excellence.

The assembly served as a meaningful reminder of Sherubtse’s values—where leadership, teamwork, and service go hand in hand in shaping a vibrant and compassionate campus community.

On August 10, 2025, the Mathematical Sciences Forum spearheaded a cleaning initiative at Sherubtse College, focusing on the IT building and two laboratories in the new block, Lab IV and Lab V. The drive was actively carried out by several student members of the forum, who dedicated their time and effort to ensure the facilities were well-maintained.

The activity aimed to promote cleanliness, enhance the working environment for both students and staff, and encourage a sense of responsibility among members. Such initiatives also serve as an example for the wider student body to contribute towards the upkeep of college infrastructure.

This cleaning campaign reflects the forum’s commitment not only to academic excellence but also to fostering a clean and organized learning space for all.

𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐥 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐥𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫

Sherubtse College commenced its first formal assembly of the academic semester today, marking a momentous occasion that blended spiritual enrichment with democratic student engagement. Organised collaboratively by the Forum for National and International Awareness (FINA) and the Dean of Student Affairs (DSA), the event welcomed the esteemed Khenchen from Choekhortse Monastery

In a deeply reflective session, Khenchen addressed the student body with a spiritual discourse that touched upon the essence of life, the nature of thoughts, and the importance of cultivating inner clarity. His teachings emphasised the impermanence of worldly pursuits and the value of spiritual grounding, the role of mindfulness in navigating academic and personal challenges, and the significance of aligning one’s thoughts with compassionate action. The session concluded with a Kago (blessing), leaving students and faculty inspired to lead lives rooted in introspection and purpose.

The assembly also witnessed the formal announcement of the newly elected FINA executive members. The selection process was conducted with rigour and transparency, overseen by a joint panel comprising FINA representatives and members of the college management. Following a competitive round of interviews, four candidates—two male and two female—were selected to serve as the new FINA representatives. Their appointment reflects a commitment to gender balance, leadership potential, and alignment with FINA’s mission to foster national and international awareness among students.

Today’s assembly set a strong precedent for the semester, reinforcing Sherubtse’s dedication to nurturing both the spiritual and civic dimensions of student life. With the guidance of spiritual leaders and the active participation of student representatives, the college continues to uphold its vision of producing thoughtful, responsible, and engaged citizens.

As the second day of Sherubtse College’s Leadership Workshop drew to a close, the college management introduced a meaningful new initiative aimed at fostering stronger relationships between student leaders and administrative staff. The evening culminated in a warm and informal gathering—a closing dinner designed to bridge the gap between leadership and governance through shared conversation, camaraderie, and reflection.

Held in a relaxed setting, the event brought together members of the college management and student leaders from various student bodies. Over a simple yet heartfelt dinner, participants engaged in open dialogue, exchanged experiences, and celebrated the spirit of collaboration that underpins Sherubtse’s leadership culture.

The evening also featured light entertainment, adding a joyful note to the gathering and allowing attendees to connect on a more personal level beyond their formal roles. The core objective of the event—“to build relationships between student leaders and management”—was clearly reflected in the atmosphere of mutual respect and shared purpose.

The second day of Sherubtse College’s Leadership Workshop unfolded with renewed energy and deeper engagement, building on the momentum established during the opening session. Before the day’s formal proceedings began, the College President delivered an inspiring address to the participants, sharing his personal reflections on leadership and the responsibilities that come with it. His message emphasised the importance of fostering meaningful bonds among students, encouraging leaders to cultivate trust, empathy, and collaboration within their respective communities.

Following the President’s address, the workshop transitioned into a series of thematic sessions designed to equip student leaders with practical tools and critical perspectives. Topics covered throughout the day included strategic planning, ethical decision-making, conflict resolution, and the art of effective communication. Each session was interactive, encouraging participants to reflect on their own leadership styles while engaging in group activities and scenario-based discussions.

Facilitators guided students through case studies and role-play exercises, helping them explore the nuances of leadership in both academic and social contexts. The emphasis on values-driven leadership and inclusive practices resonated strongly with attendees, many of whom expressed appreciation for the opportunity to learn from experienced mentors and peers.

𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐩 𝐁𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐃𝐚𝐲

Sherubtse launched its three-day leadership workshop today, bringing together student leaders for an intensive series of sessions aimed at developing transformative leadership skills and personal insight, held under the initiative of the Sherubtse Student Leadership Program (SSLP) team on July 31, 2025.

The workshop’s opening day offered a robust lineup of sessions that tackled core leadership principles. The morning began with Session 1: Understanding Leadership, which introduced participants to foundational concepts, unpacked myths about leadership, and framed the question, “Who is a leader?” This set the tone for a reflective and purposeful learning environment.

Following a short tea break, Session 2 delved into “Leadership Theories”, offering comprehensive exposure to key models including the Great Man Theory, Trait Theory, Behavioural Theory, and Transformational Leadership. Participants explored the evolution of leadership thinking and its relevance in modern contexts.

The afternoon session, “Discovering Your Leadership Style”, encouraged self-assessment and dialogue among attendees, helping them identify their own leadership approaches. This was complemented by Session 4: Motivation, which examined the psychological drivers behind effective leadership. Concepts such as extrinsic vs. intrinsic motivation, Theory X and Theory Y, and Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs were discussed in depth.

The day concluded with a continuation of the motivation theme, focusing on techniques for inspiring both self and others, and strategies for addressing demotivation.

With active engagement throughout the day and thoughtful facilitation by the SSLP team, the workshop’s kickoff was a resounding success. Participants left with a renewed sense of purpose and anticipation for the sessions ahead.

The SSLP leadership workshop will continue over the next two days, offering deeper insights and fostering collaborative growth for all participants.

Sherubtse College rang in the new academic year with its much-cherished tradition: the welcome football matches, held to honour and integrate incoming students into the vibrant campus community. The event was graced by the President of the College as the Chief Guest, adding an air of prestige to the spirited occasion on 26 July 2025.

The matchday featured two friendly fixtures—MPH girls faced DH5 girls in a game that ended in a draw, followed by an exciting contest between DH3 and DH4 boys, with DH3 emerging victorious. While the scores added spark to the competition, the true highlight of the event lay in its purpose: fostering camaraderie, connection, and team spirit among Sherubtse’s students.

More than a game, the welcome matches are a cultural cornerstone at Sherubtse, championing unity and mutual respect. They provide a meaningful opportunity for the freshers to come together, share the field, and build the bonds that define student life.
