The Roya Bhutan Police (RBP) has issued a public warning about a rising " " scam targeting individuals in Bhutan.

In this type of fraud, scammers impersonate trusted entities ,such as banks, government authorities, or other legitimate organizations to trick people into revealing sensitive personal information or transferring money. They achieve this by spoofing (faking) phone numbers, caller IDs, or messages so that communications appear to come from genuine and familiar sources.

The RBP urges the public to exercise caution and verify the authenticity of any unsolicited calls, messages, or requests before sharing personal details (like bank account information, OTPs, or passwords) or making any payments.

Key advice from the police:
Do not trust communications solely based on the displayed caller ID or sender name.
Independently confirm by contacting the organization through official, known channels.
Report suspicious activities immediately to the authorities.
