As we stepped into a brand new year, I kesaobaka Ntopolelang, your reigning Miss Tswapong, stand with a heart overflowing with gratitude, growth and hope.

2025 was a journey of learning, leading and discovering the strength within me and our communities. Every challenge I faced became a lesson and every success reminded me of the power of unity and purpose.

To the young girls and boys who look up to this crown believe in yourselves. Your dreams are powerful. Your voices are necessary and your story is still unfolding beautifully.

Today we remember the brave children of Soweto, who, in 1976 marched for their right to learn. They stood up with courage and many paid the highest price so that we, the children of Africa could have a voice.

But even today,too many African children still face hunger, fear and lack of education.

Let us not remember - we must act
Let's protect our children
Let's invest in their dreams
Let's build a future where every African child feels safe, heard and free to rise
