Thamaga is ready to dance as Kumnandi Ekhaya returns to Flamboyant Gardens on 30th September 2025, this time with a sparkling Canadian twist. AFROFEST Canada is bringing five artists and two vibrant emcees to share the stage with Botswana’s finest, creating a one-night fusion of rhythms, cultures, and pure joy.

Access Bank Botswana partnered with the Financial Intelligence Agency (FIA) and the Ministry of Child Welfare and Basic Education for the FIA 10KM Walk & Exhibition, which took place on 20 September 2025 at the Francistown Council Stadium. The event was held under the theme β€œWalking Against Youth Involvement in Financial Crimes.”

The initiative was designed to raise awareness among young people and communities about the dangers of financial crimes and the importance of building a culture rooted in ethics, accountability, and responsibility. With a turnout of over 1,000 students and several hundred community members, the event provided an important platform for engagement and education.

Speaking at the event, Allec Tainton, Head of Conduct and Compliance, said, β€œCreating awareness around financial crime is essential, particularly among our future leaders. Engaging with learners directly provides an opportunity to reinforce the importance of responsible financial behaviour at an early stage.”

Throughout the day, Access Bank’s team engaged with students and educators, encouraged open dialogue, and offered practical advice on avoiding risky financial situations. The Bank’s exhibition presence served as a learning space, grounded in real-life tools and guided by professionals who understood the impact of financial crime.

The event also presented an opportunity to strengthen relationships at the local level. With the Bank’s presence in Francistown, this initiative further strengthened its role in supporting communities through active engagement and purposeful outreach.

Maipelo Mzizi, Francistown Branch Manager, commented, β€œWe were pleased to support an event of this nature in Francistown. It provides a space for meaningful interaction with the community and reinforces the importance of financial literacy awareness in safeguarding young people from financial misconduct.”

Access Bank Botswana is honoured to be part of this national effort and looks forward to continued collaboration with public and private stakeholders to drive financial awareness and strengthen ethical foundations in communities across the country.
