MODEL ATTS DIRECTOR INTERVIEW ON UB RADIO.
1. WHY IS THAT BOTSWANA IS NOT PERFORMING WELL INTERNATIONALLY?
*Lack of strong advocacy foundations -our contestants struggle to present long-term,well developed causes/projects backed by measurable impact.
*Less international exposure -our queens are not exposed to many competitions, media training and modeling or pageantry work before the big stage. Our country doesn't have many platforms to groom contestants at that scale.
*Fewer resources for wardrobe and styling. At highest stage, wardrobe, national costumes , evening gown and overall styling can influence confidence and impressions. Our contestants sometimes compete with limited budget.
*Limited investment &preparation-many top performing countries invest heavily in training, public speaking, interview skills, fitness, styling and mental coaching. But for our country lacks structured year-round preparation. We mostly focus on the surface aspects like wardrobe and walk.
*Inconsistent national pageant systems-frequent changes in organisers, training teams, rules and sponsorships make it hard to maintain international level standards and continuity.
2.Did Mpule Kwelagobes's Win impact pageantry in Botswana?
*Definitely, her win transformed the pageantry in Botswana and it proved that talent from a small African nation can compete & excel internationally. With her success came a generation that believes greatness is possible.
3.As a modeling coach what advice can you give to models?
*To every model or pageant queen, understand that greatness is build, not gifted. The crown ,the contract, spotlight, none of it comes overnight. It takes consistency, patience and discipline. You will face rejection & tough days but always remember that winners don't give up. Stay hungry, stay humble, keep grinding.
