There's something inherently poetic about a love that returns to itself unvalidated and unqualified. Few things are as poetic as a love that is unrequited. Pure admiration without embrace. I had to pay homage to the sheer chaotic beauty of it all.
Here is a song (mini-song) I wrote yesterday. "The Sun's Not Mine To Embrace". I hope you enjoy it.

A MUSICAL TRIBUTE TO MOGAE THE UNFORGETTABLE
Today marks a terrible, yet historic, day for the Mogae family and the Republic of Botswana. A legend is laid to rest.

Overcome with emotions I could not express, I composed a song in memoriam of a great man. Saturday night, as I was composing, it disappear. I was not ok. With the encouragement of my uncle Karabo Tlhabiwe and mother Kealeboga Matthys I started again. Rre Mike Modise would later help me tweak it - Thank you Sir. This is a tribute to the memory of His Excellency the Former President of the Republic of Botswana, Dr. Festus Gontebanye Mogae.

I tried recording it, and struggled. So, while this not the form I would have wished for the public to have heard it, it is nonetheless an expression of feelings I cannot express in words. I have drafted and deleted many-an-essay since the passing of the Former President.

Please accept this as a humble tribute by a young Motswana who is inspired by the towering tree under whose shade our fathers rested. May God bless the Mogae family, may God bless the Republic of Botswana, her leaders, and her people.

I pray that we can take Botswana to greater heights than Rre Mogae did, in his honour.

Intriguingly, my father (Gomolemo Motswaledi) wrote 'Opelang Dikoma' for his inauguration, my mother (Kealeboga Matthys) wrote 'Mogae the Great' for his retirement, today I present 'Ke Ena Rre Mogae' on the day of his burial. While it is not sung, I hope the meaning will remain.

Overwhelmed by the Grace of God in the remembrance of the ultimate sacrifice of his Son, I sit humbly at the cross - gazing at the man on the cross.
I bow at the foot of the cross with great trembling. No, not fear. A PROFOUND SENSE OF REVERENCE.
I am overwhelmed by the grace I find there.
I am overwhelmed by the love on the cross, and the love I find amongst those like me at the foot of the cross.
I am overwhelmed by the monument of revolution that is THE CROSS.
We cannot talk "Easter Week" without mentioning REVOLUTION.

Therefore, those who bow and sit at the foot of the cross are charged heavily with the call to revolution, to mercy, to grace, and to Justice in the name of the One on the Cross.

Grace and Peace to you,
And May the Kingdom of God Come.
May the Revolution burn on.

With a renewed hope in our future as the people of the Republic of Botswana, we must stand together “Re kopanele go direla lefatshe la rona”.

It is only when we have all our people involved that we can truly build this nation - as is OUR MANDATE. As we look forward in hope, we must stand together in strength. We must build up the farmer, build up the singer, build up the builder, build up the entrepreneur, and empower them to not only benefit from but also invest in their economy.

This is OUR LAND.
This, our Nation, is the true PEOPLE'S PROJECT
