MASCOM BATANANI WALK: EIGHT YEARS ON
The eighth Batanani Walk has come and gone.
Another year of bringing corporates, communities, organisations and individuals together around a social cause, this year, Child Safety.
The initiative aims to support the Botswana Police Service in creating child-friendly centres and strengthening systems that respond to children's needs.
It is an important intervention.
But eight years into the Batanani story, there is an opportunity to look beyond the walk itself and ask:
What does the impact of Batanani look like after eight years?
How much has been invested across the years?
How many people have been reached?
Where are the children and communities touched by previous interventions?
What changed because of the support?
Which initiatives endured?
And what still needs to happen?
Let's follow the footprints of the cause.
Not to question the value of the work, but to understand where it has taken us, what it has left behind, and where the next steps could lead.
Because impact is not only what happens on the day.
Impact is what remains after the day is over.
And perhaps that is also the opportunity of CSR in Botswana: to recognise the organisations already doing the work, learn from what has been achieved, and invite more corporates to join the agenda of compassion, community and humanitarian action across our country.
Because when we talk about impact, we should be able to see its footprints.
