The Botswana Network on Ethics, Law and HIV/AIDS (BONELA) has issued a strong statement highlighting critical shortages of condoms, HIV test kits, and STI medications across several districts, including Gaborone, Mahalapye, Francistown, and Kweneng. BONELA warns that these stock-outs threaten to reverse years of progress in Botswana’s fight against HIV/AIDS and constitute a serious public health and human rights challenge. We discuss BONELA's position on this urgent crisis and strategic ways forward.

The 45th Ordinary Summit of SADC Heads of State and Government held in Antananarivo, Madagascar re-appointed Mr. Elias Magosi as the Executive Secretary of the Southern African Development Community - for another four-year term.His reappointment signals continuity in the regional body's pursuit of deeper integration, economic cooperation, and peace among its 16 member states.

The region has a population of over 417 million people. The Atlas discusses with Mr. Magosi about his priorities for the next term and his reflections on the challenges and opportunities facing the SADC region.

The Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA) has commenced a series of targeted consultative meetings, running from 7 October to 30 October 2025, to engage professional stakeholders on the development of Works Price Guides. These guides serve as vital tools to establish indicative reference prices for goods, services, and public works procured by government entities. The consultative approach ensures that input from architects, engineers, quantity surveyors, business representatives, and procuring entities is incorporated into the annual Price Guides. We discuss this and how PPRA aims to ensure that the developed Works Price Guides remain dynamic, equitable, and responsive to both market realities and procurement challenges faced across different regions of Botswana.
