There are nights that remind you why you fell in love with hip hop in the first place. Last night was one of them. Taurin invited us into her world with Code of Conduct, and the result was something between a film score and a therapy session, dark enough to feel real, uplifting enough to make you believe in the craft again.

La Parada was packed with artists who respect the game, media who document it, and royalty who've already shaped it. Pure, unfiltered music that demands to be heard more than once. This is what growth sounds like. This is what Botswana hip hop sounds like when it's done right.

From UB to Main Mall, the Skate Day Parade rolled through Gaborone as a celebration of a movement. For some, skating began as a hobby. For others, it became competition. For many, it became a way of life, a culture built on freedom, friendship, creativity, and self-expression. The rain came, but so did the skaters.

𝐁𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐬𝐤𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐛𝐨𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐧𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐛𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬. 𝐈𝐭 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐚𝐥𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐛𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐮𝐩, 𝐩𝐮𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐣𝐨𝐲 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐞.

With a standout performance by Charma Gal, the night reminded us that Botswana’s entertainment industry thrives when local brands and local people move together. This is how culture grows, from the ground up.
