Inside Botswana’s Health Revolution 🏥🇧🇼

This week, I was invited to join the CEDA Project Site Tour in Gaborone — a behind-the-scenes look at two game-changing, citizen-owned healthcare ventures: Kalafhi Medical Center and the Renal Care Institute (RCI).

Kalafhi stood out for its vision — a locally founded network offering everything from mobile clinics to extended-hours care, with bold plans to go public on the BSE by 2030. It’s ambitious, but also grounded in clear need: access, innovation, and ownership.

RCI was a different kind of impressive — quieter, clinical, and deeply focused. As Botswana’s first private dialysis provider, it’s scaling specialized care where it’s most needed. Not flashy, but essential.

Both stories reminded me: real impact doesn’t always look loud. Sometimes it looks like early mornings, small teams, and steady growth. And CEDA? Their role goes way beyond funding — it’s long-term backing for local excellence.

Unbiased take? These aren’t perfect models yet. But they’re powerful examples of what happens when Batswana invest in Batswana — and the kind of health future we can build from the ground up.

Chiwele And The Giant 🦓
On May 27th, the UB VAPA Theatre opened their doors to us. They showcased a unique blend of storytelling and Botswana's cultural heritage — invoking Chiwele's story within those who were present.

Chiwele And The Giant, performed by the University of Botswana’s Visual & Performing Arts students, was a creative and emotional look into the story of Chiwele as a giant attempted to capture her from her home. Through dialogue, movement, and sound, the cast brought this story to life — one that felt nostalgic to every audience in the room.

The Writer’s Dilemma 🎭
On June 14th, the UB VAPA Theatre became a window into the creative mind — where pressure, imagination, and purpose collided.

The Writer’s Dilemma, performed by the University of Botswana’s Visual & Performing Arts students, was an honest, expressive look at a young writer’s battle with her inner voice. Through dialogue, movement, and sound, the cast brought her world to life — one that felt deeply familiar to every creative in the room.

Some of these bold young performers are now part of our creative circle at Rxse Club, and we couldn’t be more excited to grow alongside them as they shape their artistic paths. The future is in expressive, unapologetic storytelling — and they’re living it.

Later that evening, a few familiar faces reappeared at Kutlwano: Echoes Across the Water — a soulful jazz concert hosted by Maitisong & Maru-a-Pula. A shift in scene, but the art never stopped. 🎷
