TEMOSO COMPLETES TRAINEESHIP PROGRAMME WITH THE EUROPEAN INVESTMENT BANK

The Embassy of the Republic of Botswana has extended its warmest congratulations to Ms. Oratile Temoso on the successful completion of her term with the European Investment Bank (EIB) Young Professional’s Traineeship Programme.

The programme is under a trust fund called the Financial Inclusion Fund (FIF) which serves as a specialized, highly selective recruitment pipeline designed specifically for young professionals from non-EU developing nations. While employment at the European Investment Bank (EIB) is generally restricted strictly to citizens of EU Member States, the FIF programme creates an intentional nationality exception. It allows talented individuals from all 79 African, Caribbean, and Pacific (OACPS) partner countries to live and work at the bank’s global headquarters.

The embassy commends Oratile for her dedication and professionalism during her time at the EIB, where she gained valuable experience in development finance and international partnerships over an 11 month period from September 2025- August 2026.

P8.3M PUT ASIDE FOR GENDER SUPPORT CENTRE - CHOMBO

“During the 2025/2026 financial year, the Government provided P7,010,674.51 to the Botswana Gender Based Violence Prevention and Support Centre and P1,760,051.00 to Women Against R**e. In the current financial year, the Botswana Gender-Based Violence Prevention and Support Centre received P8,360,037.53. More support services are planned under the National Development Plan 12, and have been prioritised in the budget allocation directed by the Cabinet. These include safe havens and GBV One-Stop Service Centres, where survivors will be able to access medical care, counselling, police assistance and legal support in one place. The aim is simple: survivors should not have to move from office to office, repeatedly explaining what happened to them,” said the Minister of Youth and Gender Affairs, Lesego Chombo in Parliament on Parliament when responding to a motion presented by MP for Tati East, Tlhabologo Furniture.

The MP’s motion called on the Government to establish a Special Fund for GBV prevention, survivor support and legal assistance.

Originally from Kalamare in Botswana's Central District, Dolly spent much of her life between Kalamare and Gaborone. She completed her primary education in Kalamare before moving to Gaborone, where she attended Maikano Junior Secondary School, St. Joseph's College, and later Moeding College. Her entrepreneurial journey is deeply rooted in family tradition.
