TATOLO IS NEWLY ELECTED BCF PRESIDENT
Making history, Kutlwano Tatolo has been elected Botswana Chess Federation (BCF) President, becoming the first female president of BCF since inception. This comes shortly after the electoral AGM held in Palapye on the 26th July 2025, following the last AGM held in Gaborone last year.
Tatolo has been involved in chess for over 20 years, having first began as a chess player and went on to become the youngest and first ever fide arbiter at the age of 17. She revealed that during her time as a player she was part of a club called kings chess club and years later joined BCF as Public Relations (PR) director.
Sharing her excitement towards becoming President, Tatolo highlighted that she is geared up to work hard. "My presidential appointment means the world to me because chess has been my entire world. Botswana chess has basically been my life the past 20 years and it is something I don't take lightly. I would like my appointment to have great meaning, have impact and change lives and not just come by as a title,". Sharing what the public should look foward to, she said the chess fraternity should look foward to her dedication, presence and most importantly personal interaction. "I promise to avail myself and actually be there. My number one commitment is that I will bring sponsors. Inorder for chess to thrive, we need money. My tenure will therefore be a financially fruitful one,".
Adding further, Tatolo said this is one of the sporting codes that has more female engagement than male and such empowerment is one to write home about. "To the general public, Botswana chess is here and you will be seing a lot of us from now. Support us and let us work towards building a bigger and better BCF,".
