MEET THUSO ‘VYGOS’ MAFOKO – A MUSICAL GENIOUS!

A cornerstone of the Poetavango Collective, Thuso ‘Vygos’ Mafoko has been instrumental in shaping its success through his electrifying performances and unwavering dedication. From the Maun International Arts Festival to international stages in South Africa, Nigeria (Poets in Nigeria Poetry Festival), 100 Thousand Poets for Change, and Black History Word’ebration, Vygos has left his mark on the spoken word scene and is making evident marks on the music scenes.

Beyond poetry, he’s a multidisciplinary artist — a writer, musician (guitar, bass & saxophone), and educator — armed with a Bachelor of Arts in Music from the University of KwaZulu-Natal.

MEET MORONGWA ‘MESSENGER’ MATSAU – A VOICE SHAPED BY WORDS & RHYTHM

Born and raised in Maun, Botswana, Morongwa ‘Messenger’ Matsau found his voice where words meet emotion. Struggling to express himself conventionally, he turned to the pen — transforming stories into solace and poetry into power.

A lover of literature and a devotee of rhythm, his spoken word performances pulse with the beats of good music, weaving raw honesty into every line. “My poems are a reflection of my being — my joy, sorrows, highs, and lows,” he shares.

A proud member of Poetavango since 2009, Messenger’s artistry is a testament to the enduring spirit of storytelling.

MEET KARABO ‘NONOWE’ RAKODU – A SOULFUL VOICE WITH DEPTH & FIRE

Maun-based soul singer and performer Karabo ‘Nonowe’ Rakodu channels raw emotion, truth, and deep feeling through her music. Known for her captivating covers spanning soul, R&B, reggae, blues, and pop, she crafts her own original sound by blending these influences into something rich, heartfelt, and uniquely hers.

Nonowe’s music tells stories that resonate with the human experience — love, longing, identity, and vulnerability — all delivered with powerful authenticity. Though rooted in soul, her musical curiosity stretches from jazz and classical to afrobeat and pop, giving her a dynamic and versatile artistry.

Gomorena "Poet Goms" Selabeka is a dynamic spoken word artist and poet whose literary journey began in 2017. Since joining the Poetavango family in 2022, he has honed his craft, gracing nearly every major stage — including the coveted Maun International Arts Festival.

Through his powerful words, Poet Goms explores themes of Pan-Africanism, social justice, and resilience, blending artistry with activism to spark change. His voice weaves stories of hope, leaving audiences captivated and inspired.

MEET GOODIE THE BAD – THE VOICE THAT MOVES THE WORLD!

Goodwill "Goodie the Bad" Tlokwe is a force of nature — a Bachelor of Arts graduate (English & Environmental Science, University of Botswana), an acclaimed spoken word artist, poet, and published author of the award-winning anthology ‘Word on the Ways of the World’ (Pentagon, 2009).

With a voice that commands attention, Goodie has lent his talents to Botswana Television as a sports commentator, scriptwriter for ‘Talk Back’, and narrator for EU-backed documentaries. His electrifying performances have graced international stages like ‘Power of the Voice’, ‘SADC Poetry Festival’, and ‘Maun International Arts Festival’.
