Spiritual Growth Is a Process
One of the greatest truths in both the natural and the spiritual is this:
Growth never happens overnight.
A newborn baby does not become an adult in a day.
First, the baby drinks milk. Then comes solid food. The child is carried before learning to sit, crawl, stand, walk, and eventually run. School develops the mind. Time, nourishment, discipline, and daily learning gradually transform the child into a mature and responsible adult who can carry responsibilities and contribute meaningfully to society.
The same principle applies in the Kingdom of God.
The day you are born again, you become a new creation in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17). But being born again is the beginning of the journey—not the end.
The apostle Peter instructs us:
«"As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby." — 1 Peter 2:2»
Every believer begins with the milk of God's Word. As we continue faithfully in the Scriptures, we mature into deeper truths.
«"Strong meat belongs to those who are of full age... who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil." — Hebrews 5:12–14»
Spiritual maturity is progressive.
You learn to sit with Christ in heavenly places (Ephesians 2:6).
You learn to stand against the wiles of the devil, clothed in the whole armor of God (Ephesians 6:11–14).
You learn to walk worthy of your calling (Ephesians 4:1; Colossians 2:6).
You learn to run with patience the race set before you, looking unto Jesus (Hebrews 12:1–2).
You are trained for spiritual warfare until it can be said of you:
«"He teacheth my hands to war, and my fingers to fight." — Psalm 144:1»
None of these experiences happen instantly.
They are the result of a life that is consistently nourished by God's Word, strengthened through prayer, obedience, fellowship, and daily exercise in godliness.
«"Exercise yourself rather unto godliness." — 1 Timothy 4:7–8»
Day by day, your spirit grows.
