IDEAL Summit 2026: Investor’ Lifecycle Protection Championed
Sesiro Insurance Company reaffirmed its role as a strategic risk partner in Africa’s investment landscape, following a compelling presentation by its Director of Operations, Mr Mogomotsi Mokgosi, at the IDEAL Summit 2026.
Speaking on the topic “Protecting Investor Capital: From Cradle to Grave,” Mogomotsi delivered a powerful message to investors, policymakers, and business leaders: capital is not lost due to lack of opportunity, but due to unmanaged risk.
In a rapidly evolving global economy shaped by digital transformation, regulatory shifts, and economic uncertainty, Mogomotsi emphasised that protecting investor capital is no longer a once-off intervention, but a continuous lifecycle responsibility.
He outlined a comprehensive framework that tracks investor capital across its full lifecycle, from formation to preservation, highlighting the unique risks at each stage.
At the early stages of investment, he stressed the importance of strong governance, due diligence, and structured risk frameworks to ensure capital is not only attracted but sustained.
As investments grow, the risk landscape becomes increasingly complex, with cybersecurity threats, cloud dependencies, and data vulnerabilities emerging as critical concerns.
“Cyber risk is no longer an IT issue, it is a direct threat to investor value,” Mogomotsi noted, pointing to the growing sophistication of attacks driven by emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence.
As investments mature, organizations face heightened regulatory scrutiny and must navigate increasingly strict data protection requirements. He highlighted that non-compliance and data breaches now carry significant financial and reputational consequences, placing greater pressure on businesses to strengthen governance and compliance frameworks.
He further cautioned that risks are no longer limited to external threats. Insider risks, operational vulnerabilities, and system failures continue to pose significant challenges to organisations across sectors.
A key theme of the presentation was the importance of resilience in safeguarding investor capital. Mogomotsi emphasised the need for robust business continuity planning, system reliability, and rapid response capabilities.
“In today’s environment, even a few hours of downtime can translate into substantial financial loss and diminished investor confidence,” he said.
Through its participation at the, Sesiro reinforced its commitment to supporting sustainable investment by embedding risk intelligence into every stage of the capital lifecycle.
As Botswana’s indigenous short-term insurer, Sesiro continues to position itself as more than an insurance provider, but a trusted partner in protecting businesses, assets, and investments.
The company’s approach aligns with its broader vision of delivering inclusive, accessible, and affordable insurance solutions, while strengthening governance, resilience, and long-term value creation.
Mogomotsi concluded with a clear message to the investment community:
“Investor capital moves where risk is understood, managed, and protected, at every stage of its life.”
