Over the years, I’ve watched many friends go on to do incredible things, including publishing books. It’s been almost 20 years since I first told my parents I wanted to be an author.
I became so comfortable cheering for others that I started to believe that maybe it wasn’t in the cards for me either. There are hundreds of thousands of authors. What would I offer or bring to the table?
But deep in my heart, I knew the Lord has called me to write. Even if no one was in the audience to read my words.
And eventually, my time will come. My first book is hitting shelves in 2026 and I’m STILL battling imposter syndrome. But being faithful to a dream + calling is a brave + beautiful thing. Even when it’s scary.
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve said, “But what if it doesn’t sell?”
As I’ve taken my dreams + fears before the Lord, my definition of success is changing.
Success isn’t measured by how many eyes are watching, how many subscribers you have, how fast your followers grow, or how quickly you sell out bookstores.
True success is found in being faithful to what God has called you to do. Whether anyone notices or not.
It’s choosing to keep going when the enemy whispers that there’s no room for you, when comparison tries to convince you that you’re already behind, and when it feels easier to hide in the background cheering for everyone else.
It’s showing up even when it’s hard, trusting that obedience is the real victory. Because in the Kingdom, success is not about applause. It’s about faithfulness. And when you keep walking in what He’s asked of you, you can be sure you’re right where you’re meant to be.
Your dreams matter to God. So let Him use you.
