As far back as I can remember, I always wanted to shoot a black-and-white video.
And every time an idea came up for how to make it happen, one of those usual “no” factors got in the way.
Sometimes I just didn’t encourage enough, or the idea wasn’t good. Sometimes — when it was about commercial work — color was absolutely crucial. And sometimes, even when everything seemed to line up, the producer or the client would step in. And that’s totally fair — everyone on a project has their own responsibilities.
In the end, nobody gives a damn about black-and-white in the digital age anyway. 🫠
But this time, everything fell into place on its own.
Harsh contrasts of light and shadow, a dreamlike concept, a black mountain — from the very start, it was all leading to this.
And daang, it felt so good to finally make one of those old ideas happen.
So simple — and yet, so damn hard to pull off.
