How I design my cross stitch patterns

While using a stitch program is super helpful to get the final design ready for listing, I prefer to do things the old fashioned way - using pencil and paper.

This graph paper from is perfect for it - the squares are nearly the same scale as 14 count aida and the repetition of drawing is so theraputic.
