JANK Jank Words & Pictures Partners Jamie Lees & Frank D'Angelo are storytellers. Together they imagine. Storytelling is at the heart of what we do.

Jank Words & Pictures is built on over 30 years of experience in design, writing, and storytelling. It’s how we bring ideas to life, connect with audiences, and create impactful narratives that resonate. Whether it’s through graphic novels, exhibition picture books, zines, games, or even surface and swag design, we pride ourselves on turning creative visions into reality with precision and passion

. We recently completed a transatlantic exhibition, a collaboration between Canada and Scotland, Left at the Wellgate: The Untold Story of Mary Petrie Smith, and are currently working on a picture book set to release in spring 2025. Following that, we’ll be turning the story into a theatrical production. Our projects reflect our commitment to high-quality, innovative storytelling. Our first graphic novel Blood Sucking Lawyers, a parody of the legal system, uses a groundbreaking photo illustration style. We’re excited to share this labour of love soon! In 2024, we're excited to release Synopsis: The Storytelling Game on Kickstarter! This fast-paced, table-top game, perfect for storytellers of all kinds. With a mix of plot twists, wild characters, and unexpected settings, players have two minutes to craft their part of an entertaining, outlandish, or heartfelt story. Whether you’re a budding author or just love a good laugh, Synopsis turns game night into a creative adventure. If you have a creative project in mind—whether it involves writing, design, or concept development—Jank can help you bring it to life. Bittersweet news from Jank Words & Pictures.

After several great years, we’ll soon be moving out of our cozy little Jank office at 61 Richmond in downtown Amherstburg. The move is a positive one for us creatively and personally, but we’ll genuinely miss this space and the people around it.

We turned the office into a warm creative nook for writing, design, meetings, brainstorming, books, coffee, and conversations. The main office is approximately 10 x 14, with a bonus kitchenette/storage area and custom shelving we used for our book collection.

Honestly, it’s one of the best downtown locations in Amherstburg... right in the heart of everything.

Some great perks include:
• use of a kitchen
• small and large boardrooms
• communal gathering space
• tenant bulletin board
• rotating sandwich board signage on the street
• exterior building signage
• branding on the large welcome screen at entry
• wonderful receptionist and client greeting area
• private parking
• excellent security system
• workshops and tenant collaboration ideas in the works
• and a fantastic landlord who is responsive, thoughtful, and open to fresh ideas

If you or someone you know might be interested in the space, send us a message and we’ll connect you with the right person.

61 Richmond has been very good to us.

This incredible World War I diary, written on cigarette rolling papers. Sometimes getting down your thoughts is that important. Donated to the Library of Congress by the family.

What family treasure do you have worthy of a museum?

Ivan Sparling Jr.'s incredible World War I diary, written on cigarette rolling papers during his time in France, were recently given to the Library by Sparling's great-granddaughter Molly on behalf of his descendants.

Veterans History Project donations like this one are so interesting and special!

Kilt-wearing booster of the arts named Canada’s “Scot of the Year” — and making the front page of the Windsor Star.

We’re incredibly proud to celebrate Philip Lindsay McLeod, a visionary Windsor arts leader whose passion for creativity, culture, and community continues to shape our city in extraordinary ways.

From his transformative work at SHŌ Art, Spirit & Performance to his longstanding commitment to bringing people together through the arts, this national recognition is so richly deserved.

The Scottish Studies Foundation and Scottish Studies Society, proud hosts of Scot of the Year, were honoured to recognize Phil this past weekend — a leader whose impact on Windsor’s cultural landscape continues to inspire.

At Jank, we love celebrating the people and stories that make this city what it is.

Congratulations again, Phil — Windsor is cheering you on.
