Frosh Week 📢

Last week, BT's Student Council organized activities to welcome our newest Titans to Bishop Tonnos 📢

From survival tips in the library, clubs & teams fair in the caf, ice breaker games on the field, and a Grade 9 dance to cap it all off, the week was full of fun! 📢

We hope you had a blast, met some new friends, and feel a little more at home at BT 📢

Create Your Future ✨️

It was a week of fairs at BT. Titans had the opportunity to check out and sign up for the various extracurriculars Bishop Tonnos has to offer at our Club Fair on Wednesday. Joining school clubs is a great way to have fun, meet new people, and get involved in our community ✨️

Today, our guidance department hosted the Post-Secondary Schools fair. Our grade 11 and 12 students met with University and College representatives to discuss their different pathways which hopefully helped in making some big decisions for their post-secondary futures ✨️

Welcome Back! 🍎📚

We started the 2025-26 school year this week with a Grade Level assembly to revisit BT school expectations and take note of some of the changes throughout our building 🍎📚

One of the noticeable differences at BT is the addition of a cosmetology room. Contractors and custodians have worked hard all summer in creating this brand new classroom for students to gain hands-on experience with hairstyling and aesthetics 🍎📚

This week was also met with new faces, new timetables, new laptops, new teams, a new life skills classroom, and plenty of guidance appointments! 🍎📚

We hope everyone had a great first week back at BT! Enjoy the weekend, Titans! 🍎📚

Welcome Class of 2029 👋🏻👋🏽👋🏿

Our newest Titans had the opportunity this week to get acquainted to high school via the Passport to Grade 9 program as well as Grade 9 Orientation day.

Our Passport teachers, Student Council and Prefects, guided groups through the halls as they explored classrooms, lockers, offices, the gym, cafeteria, and other places of significance.

We hope this week helped you to feel more at ease when entering the building on Tuesday.

Year End 2024-25 👋🏻👋🏽👋🏿

Titans celebrated an epic year at our Year End Assembly last week. We introduced our new 2025-26 Student Council, played hilarious games, awarded our Special Olympics team, watched highlights of an outstanding school year in the year end video, and said our goodbyes before final exams 👋🏻👋🏽👋🏿

Some of these goodbyes exceed more than a summer break by honouring our graduating class and retirees. We say farewell and congratulations to Ms. Cox, Mr. Leone, Mrs. Siena, and Mr. Mataseje. Thank you for all your dedication to Catholic education and teaching at BT. We will miss you 👋🏻👋🏽👋🏿

Thank you Miss DiSimoni and Student Council for organizing another epic summer send off and Mrs. Fidanza, Mrs. Raposo, and the TNT crew for creating the video showcasing another Titan-Sized year 👋🏻👋🏽👋🏿

Signed 📝⚾️

Two more of our graduating Titans are moving on to pursue their passion in sport at the next level. Jayden Pavao and Caden Draho have committed to play USA collegiate baseball in the NJCAA league 📝⚾️

Jayden Pavao, a two-way player (3rd base & pitcher) has signed to play at Monroe Community College in Rochester, New York. And Caden has committed to St. Clair County Community College in Port Huron, Michigan as a pitcher 📝⚾️

These boys have been key elements in the Titans Baseball success over the past 4 years -- winning 3 HWCDSB Championships. They have always shown enthusiasm, teamwork, grit, and leadership, and will no doubt, carry that with them in college 📝⚾️

As Coach Raposo had fondly mentioned in her speech, "No matter what jersey you wear next, you will always be part of the BT team and baseball family. Our dugout will always be home" 📝⚾️

Co-Instructional Awards 🎖🏆🏅

On June 5th, we recognized the incredible efforts of teams and individuals involved in BT's sports and extracurriculars at the 20th Co-instructional Assembly 🎖🏆🏅

This year was exceptional -- Bishop Tonnos teams accumulated an amazing 8 Championship trophies, as well as numerous medals, record-breakers, and personal bests 🎖🏆🏅

In addition to MVPs, MVMs, letter awards, athletes of the year, and True Titan -- we also recognized some notable awards and scholarships. Jacob Almeida and Isabela Concepcion won this year's 'Yes I Can Award' and Daniel Puglisi won the Schulich Scholarship -- Canada's most coveted undergraduate STEM scholarship prized at $120000 🎖🏆🏅

Our Titan athletes, club members, and nominees deserve all the accolades as they display the utmost effort and dedication to their respective teams and clubs attending hours of practice, rehearsals, meetings, and games while also balancing their studies 🎖🏆🏅

A huge thank you to the coaches, volunteers, athletic council, parents, and fans for their time and support 🎖🏆🏅

Congratulations to all the 2025 award winners, you truly are Titan-Sized 🎖🏆🏅

GRAD BRUNCH 🍳🎓

After today's mass, grads not only shared a meal together, but also the memories stored away in their time capsules since grade 9 🍳🎓

As a tradition at Bishop Tonnos, students in their grade 9 religion classes write about their interests, friendships, happenings in their life, and in the world at the time. Their time capsules are then stored away until they can revisit them on their graduation day. Letters from friends, family members, and to their future selves were opened -- pictures, keepsakes, and even a crisp $20 bill acted as gifts from the past 🍳🎓

Congratulations goes out to a fantastic BT student-athlete, Jacob Cinelli, who has signed to play Central Midfielder for Utah Tech University, an NCAA D1 school that competes in the WAC conference 📝⚽️

Jacob won a Junior Soccer Championship with Bishop Tonnos and had a very successful 4 years as a leader on the field and in the classroom 📝⚽️

Many college coaches have referred to him as a “mini Messi” -- despite his smaller stature, Jacob makes up for it with his technique and ability to find pockets of space and create opportunities on the field 📝⚽️

Thanks to all of Jacob's coaches throughout the years who have helped develop him into the player he is today and for the support of family and friends 📝⚽️

Congratulations, Jacob! We look forward to following your collegiate journey at the next level 📝⚽️

Champions 🏆⚽️

Last week was GOLDEN for our Titans as both the Junior Girls and Junior Boys Soccer Teams won the CITY CHAMPIONSHIPS after UNDEFEATED seasons🏆⚽️

The Jr. Girls sought sweet redemption after last year's finals loss to STM, this year, coming back with a dominating victory of 8-0 🏆⚽️

The girls shut out every opponent this season, something no other team at Bishop Tonnos has done before 🏆⚽️

The Jr. Boys were also after the trophy following last year's 2nd place finish to SJB. This year's championship game vs. BR went scoreless after 80mins and two 10min overtime periods. The Titans then prevailed, 4-3, in the penalty shootout 🏆⚽️

Congratulations to both Junior teams. What a way to conclude the 2024-25 Titans sports season -- finishing the year with 8 CHAMPIONSHIP trophies 🏆⚽️

BT Coffeehouse ☕️🤎

A LATTE work was POURED into last week's annual Coffeehouse. A student-led event, with Randell Browne as MC for the night, Coffeehouse is a casual atmosphere for guests to enjoy the many talents of our Titans ☕️🤎

Coffeehouse was BREWING with BT'S visual artists, musical performances, solos & duets, monologues, stand-up comedy, poetry readings, and more, while audience members enjoyed treats, and of course, COFFEE ☕️🤎

Thank you to all students and teachers who helped organize this event and to family, friends, and peers for your support. We love to see our Titans EX-PRESSO themselves through art ☕️🤎
