I know I’m usually on here posting the funny chaos, the wild stories, and all the exciting moments that make up our life.
But I’ve been pretty quiet this last month.
Truthfully, it’s because life hasn’t exactly been funny or exciting lately. And that’s okay too. Because real life isn’t always easy, simple, or full of laughter. Sometimes it’s messy. Sometimes it’s heavy. Sometimes it’s emotional rollercoasters and tidal waves.
And the last month… has definitely been a tidal wave.
But something I’ve learned through it all is that the darkest, hardest moments are often the ones that show you just how strong your relationship really is.
Last week I hit my breaking point. Everything that had been weighing on me finally caught up and I snapped. Mentally, emotionally, all of it.
I went upstairs to have a bath and just breathe for a minute. Ty had plans to go out for wings with the guys, so I figured I’d freshen up and try to pull myself together before he left so I could show up for the kids.
When he came in to say goodbye and give me a kiss, he immediately knew something wasn’t okay.
And that’s when I just broke.
Tears, emotions, everything I had been holding in just came pouring out while he sat beside me and listened.
After a few minutes I looked up and said,
“Oh babe the time! You need to go. I’ll be downstairs in five.”
He looked at me and said something I’ll never forget.
“Babe… the role of a husband is knowing when and when not to do things. I think it’s more important that I’m home with you tonight.”
Cue the ugly crying. 😭
In that moment, I was reminded that love isn’t just the big fun adventures, the laughs, or the highlight reel moments we share.
It’s this.
It’s the quiet moments.
The hard moments.
The moments where someone chooses you when you feel like you’re falling apart.
And it reminded me of something really important.
Never settle.
Never settle for someone who only loves the easy version of you. Never settle for someone who only shows up when life is fun and light.
Wait for the person who sits beside you in the storm. The one who sees you breaking and doesn’t walk away. Instead, they pull you closer.
The right person won’t make life’s storms disappear… but they’ll stand beside you and face every wave with you.
And that kind of love is worth waiting for. ❤️
